  1. My personal opinion is that the Birmingham match is the only one where we have 'set about' the opposition. We have not played at a high enough tempo, we have not won the 50/50 tackles, we have not closed down the opposition quick enough. Slow starts happen to all teams at times but when it happens repeatedly I would question whether there are enough leaders in the team. Just my opinion. I find the first half stats truly horrifying. It must be a club record to have been losing at half time in 10 out of 12 matches.
  2. It could be. However, I feel there has usually been more cohesion in the second half, but maybe this is due to the opposition sitting back. It could be many things. We are fitter than the opposition? It takes the team 45 minutes to adjust to the several changes that have been made to the starting line up. Whatever it is, it has to change or we will continue to lose most matches.
  3. That's kind of the point. That said, defensively we have been relatively sound in the second half of matches, especially when taking into account that statistically more goals are usually conceded in the second half. We have played well in the second half of matches but have been abysmal in the first 45 minutes.
  4. Looks to be a serious problem now to me. Losing 10 out of 12 matches at half time is an absolute joke. Oldham - 1st half lost 2-0, 2nd half won 4-0 Derby - 1st half lost 2-1, 2nd half won 1-0 Birmingham - 1st W 2-0, 2nd L 2-1 Millwall - 1st L 2-1, 2nd W 2-0 Fulham - 1st D 0-0, 2nd W 1-0 Palace - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 1-1 Brighton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd L 2-0 Huddersfield - 1st L 2-1, 2nd L 2-1 Bolton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 1-1 Southampton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd L 1-0 Wolves - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 0-0 Burley - 1st L 2-1, 2nd W 2-1 Total 1st half P12 W1 D1 L10 F6 A15 Total 2nd half P12 W5 D3 L4 F14 A10
  5. COG has scored 1 Championship goal. He couldnt score double figures in League One last season. He is an excellent League Two striker that tries hard.
  6. Oldham - 1st half lost 2-0, 2nd half won 4-0 Derby - 1st half lost 2-1, 2nd half won 1-0 Birmingham - 1st W 2-0, 2nd L 2-1 Millwall - 1st L 2-1, 2nd W 2-0 Fulham - 1st D 0-0, 2nd W 1-0 Palace - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 1-1 Brighton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd L 2-0 Huddersfield - 1st L 2-1, 2nd L 2-1 Bolton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 1-1 Southampton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd L 1-0 Wolves - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 0-0 Total 1st half P11 W1 D1 L9 F5 A13 Total 2nd half P11 W4 D3 L4 F12 A9 Until we actually learn to gain the initiative in a match it is going to be tough. We can't keep going in behind at half time every match or we'll be relegated, AGAIN!
  7. When even DJ Mortimer ignores a stats thread you know it is time to give in. I am never again spending time compiling such insightful statistics. Tw4ts.
  8. Well I thought it was interesting anyway you Owlstalk t0ssers
  9. Oldham - 1st half lost 2-0, 2nd half won 4-0 Derby - 1st half lost 2-1, 2nd half won 1-0 Birmingham - 1st W 2-0, 2nd L 2-1 Millwall - 1st L 2-1, 2nd W 2-0 Fulham - 1st D 0-0, 2nd W 1-0 Palace - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 1-1 Brighton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd L 2-0 Huddersfield - 1st L 2-1, 2nd L 2-1 Bolton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd D 1-1 Southampton - 1st L 1-0, 2nd L 1-0 Total 1st half P10 W1 D1 L8 F5 A12 Total 2nd half P10 W4 D2 L4 F12 A9 Statistically by far the most goals are scored in the second half in football. Yet we let more by in the first half. Statistically, the most common result at half time is a draw, yet we are usually losing. For whatever reason, our main problem this season is we are abysmal in the 1st half, nearly always behind. Statistically, a very difficult thing to overcome. Do we put sedative in the pre match cuppa? Or is it because most matches we've had 5 or so changes resulting in the players taking time to adjust? Or is it just a fluke? Whatever it is, Dave Jones needs to solve it quickly because if you're usually behind after 45 minutes, you'll rarely win after 90 minutes. In fact it is a miracle we have done as well as we have after such poor first halves. Maybe the team spirit and will to win is stronger than most fans have given them credit for?
  10. Simek looked good from his first match to my memory. Whelan got stick later rather than first few games. Definitely agree on the other 3.
  11. Just did some research. I think Warhurst was also in that squad as a striker but got injured in the training camp. Never got in the squad again.
  12. Chris O'Grady has scored one Championship goal in his whole career. Yet apparently, he's our saviour. Hope not.
  13. In the 90's we definitely had four players in one squad. Not sure how many played.
  14. None of those players had the impressive track record of Taylor. You are talking garbage. Aside from one error he was steady yesterday. The error he made still left a midfielder 30 yards out with about 5 players to beat.
