  1. not for us, i think as a club we lack cohesion, we generally like to see the fire well established before we make an attempt to tackle it.
  2. have to agree with the latter part (and hopefully monk will have seen that too), but not sure it's been just the last 3-4 years, did you mean decades?
  3. i didn't know he managed halifax, till i just looked them up.
  4. i've not got the slightest what will happen, IF anything 'next season', the country might be crippled by the end of winter. who/which clubs will be able to pay staff if crowds are drastically reduced or non existent? will a season be completed? will clubs be looking at reducing playing staff? will contracts be torn up by clubs? will premier sides be looking to loan out more of their squads? is it a good time for us to be looking at getting in replacements, or a bad one? totally new territory ahead.
  5. tin hat on, lights blue touch paper and stands back... so who do we fancy if monk gets the bournemouth job then?
  6. who was the 'alifax manager who said 'the three most overused words in football were halifax town NIL'?
  7. barrow were the second side i remember going out of the league after workington town (i think). if it's barrow in furness it's a right **** to get to, i bought my last car from there, i thought it was about the same distance as lake district.
  8. or not depending on the terms of the contract, what actually did the contract between the 2 parties state in relation to 'satisfactory condition''?
  9. they talk in the manner they do because they only think of it in terms of 'championship manager' or some other 'game' where reality is absent. as the saying goes 'money makes the world go around' and it's never been truer in football. money now seems to be the basis for a good, effective side, be it buying in high earners (as has been the previous route) or quality signings at more bargain prices, but IF it's the latter then we need to sell when the player is hunted by a bigger club and wants out or we end up renewing his contract for a medium sized fortune and his wanting away is still reflected in his performances. we don't need huge squad numbers, we need huge effort, ability and adequate squad back up.
  10. maybe your doctor has insisted on it, much to the funeral directors annoyance.
  11. what they did was wrong in the face of league rules. what they did was a disgrace to sheffield wednesday and it's fans. when they returned to football, it should have been NOT to wear the shirt they disgraced. but it's up to each and every individual to have their own feelings on the matter. as for dooley, he should never have been appointed, as he was he should have been sacked a good month earlier.
  12. it's the same whatever your passion was, once you give in for a prolonged period you can lose interest and think where did i get the time to do that from? dc took this massive risk when he hiked potd prices up, by now the potd brigade have been priced out of hillsborough for half a decade, and with pigball going well on the other side of the city getting them back, along with new younger support will be very difficult. we need dynamic attacking football, and reduced gate prices, not sure we'll get either. but with covid 19 still to play it's hand fully, who knows if football will kick a ball seriously again, and if so how many teams will survive? and how?
  13. utter garbage tv station, how they went that long i don't know? i can still hear the dumplings on that calender shyte saying L**DS YOUNITED like it some kind of honour bestowed on the club.
  14. this 'just one house down the road' how many years on average has it taken for us to get back up when we've been relegated to the third? we're not exactly masters at promotion....
  15. firstly football to owners is a costly BIG business not a saturday and tuesday passtime. re- taking it on the chin, how about asking the efl to change the points deduction to a massive fine, and then offer to pay it off yourself. until then, childish gonads like 'taking it on the chin' are just that, 'utter nads'. he needs to see what the judgement has been based upon?, allow highly qualified legal personnel to go through it, and decide what action to take next if any.
  16. we were well above our punching weight when in 3rd. we fell away through the injury of our one capable forward. i think this, you think not, but it's what dc thinks that matters 100%
  17. my post pointed out what carlos was bad at, and then good at. looking at it from 'both sides'.
