Geek post! I've just played around with the percentages and worked back, and it gives a very suspicious round number with only 5k, 10k, 15k, 20k (multiples of 5,000) generating the percentages given for both questions. Whilst possible, the probability of an exact round number of 5,000 multiples responded is very low. Its a pet hate quoting %'s to 2dp - why do we need to know 29.94% responded Yes rather than 29.9% or even better 30% (I could even live with 1/3), just keep it simple. However, the detail allows you to work backwards to estimate the number of respondents. *** To be fair to the club, you can get close to these percentages from a lot of other number of respondents, it you round the results to 2dp, so there are plausible reasons why the number isn't a multiple of 5k, but it is still very suspicious that the only way to get these exact results is in 5k multiples. I think the club need to give more information, ideally with some independent verification, to explain the results. Even if the numbers are verified, as others have pointed out, the survey questions are poorly worded and biased which makes any meaningful analysis impossible. They seem to be designed solely for marketing/PR use rather than to give meaningful insights to help management decision making (or designed by someone who doesn't know what they are doing). The whole exercise seems like a complete waste of time to me (but I've been involved in plenty of similar situations in the past so its no real surprise)
  3. The swfc page http://www.jamiecooperartist.com/swfc/ has some nice pics, but horrendous collages. I love the one of Waddle with Brighty pixelated out!
  4. Foundation Members

I've done the same and my supporter ID has remained the same, so your original details should work. Try and log in with them and should see details in your account, pretty sure Foundation membership appears there as needed for ticket priority generally, not just playoffs.
  5. Would have thought the Pound:Thai Baht exchange rate that is the most important one for us
  6. Annual Accounts Published

The accounting treatment of the 3 years season tickets will be matched to the correct period as said. The cash however is in the bank and available to spend now. Whilst on obviously connected, the P&L, B/S and cash flow represent different things. What would the point of selling in advance at a discount if the money for years 2 and 3 was just going to sit in a bank account protected till we could spend it...good for the fans who can afford to take it , but not exactly commercially sensible for club if it worked this way. The point of doing it is to generate cash.... We have a lot more cash than normal now/for next season. We won't have as much for the two seasons after unless we get it from elsewhere....ie. Premiership, owner loans, investment, (sponsorship) etc. A good decision if the investment delivers the intended result, not so good if it doesn't. There are 23 other teams each with their own plan to get the same intended result at same time. Our position ought to be up there nearer the top of those than the bottom to give us a good chance, but nothing guaranteed. Leicester and Tottenham are pretty good current examples that it isn't all about the biggest investment, it's about implementing your plan better than anyone else. Money obviously important, but just as important in years two and three too
  7. What went on with Dielna at end of game last night? He seemed to go down off the ball and stayed down unattended for ages. He then seemed to get in argument with someone but couldn't tell if it was the lino, their fans or even our physios. He then got carded but never made it back on for last few minutes. Was the card for his reaction, as given he stayed of injured when they were pressing forward and has a dangerous corner with time on clock, it hardly looked like he was time wasting?
  8. Academy

I'd missed this before - sorry to go back to an earlier post, but is a really interesting area. The 10,000 hours comes from a guy called Anders Ericsson. It is often quoted as 10,000 hours but it actually about purposeful practice, pushing boundaries and continual learning rather than just raking up time - which is also the point you are making. There are loads of books in this area, one of the most interesting and accessible is by Matthew Syed - the journalist and former table tennis player. It covers this and talks alot about the myth of talent, using himself as an example. Highly recommend it to anyone. Link to amazon review http://goo.gl/5uBVdi
  9. It's a good interview and he speaks really well. For whatever reason he thought he was too good for us. You can't blame him for wanting to either play at as high a level as possible, esp when he has done in past and also max his earning but the fact that he's still on the shelf indicates he was deluded and at right level for his current ability. It might also be he just didn't settle in Sheff but given he's well travelled and not always been in places like Milan suggests that's prob not the case. We could have, and prob did, also offer him worse terms than on original short term deal when he's ageing and shown fitness concerns, which would be a hard thing for anyone to take. We've ended up with a great addition in Lees instead with much more potential so no regrets from our side. Wonder if he regrets turning us down now or still thinks he should be at a higher level. The interview just says he was real eased and not that he turned us down.
  10. New Shop Website

I take it you aren't involved anymore Deejay? Does anyone have any news on when are agreement for the website/online shop etc comes to an end or has it rolled over? Weren't we tied into a long term agreement (this was at least 3 or 4 years ago) along with most of rest of football league but were looking to do our own thing once this expired.
  11. Academy

I am not sure hammering teams by scoring 55 or conceding 22 is the best success measure at this level. It is good for then to win, or at least not continually lose, but isn't the key aim to develop them. We've debated this plenty of times in the past but in my view it is more about developing technique, aptitude, desire (I don't mean we shouldn't want to win) etc than hammering every team. The winning at all costs mentality at this level is what leads to picking the biggest strongest lads. I am not for a moment suggesting this is what we are doing, but we aren't in the 80's and 90's anymore.
  12. I think he was meaning why are we playing Colchester and not playing development games locally rather than why would fans want to travel. To be fair this is the first development game I've seen that is a bit of a trek. Presumably a coach hire is slightly more but it's hardly breaking the bank to go to Colchester instead of Nottingham for example, but I still agree. What do we get out of these games that we couldn't get closer to home.
  13. Yesterday I heard the sad news of the passing of Steve Chambers earlier in the week after a long battle with cancer. Steve was originally from the Chesterfield area but lived in West London for many years as well as spending a lot of time working over in the Philippines. He was a Owl through and through, always sharing his passion for Wednesday and flying the blue flag high down in London. We used to work together and it was great to have a fellow Owl to talk to and commiserate with down here. Not only did we share a love for Wednesday, but we shared the same name which caused no end of confusion and lots of laughter! My thoughts are with Juvy and his family. RIP Steve, WAWAW
  14. RIP Steve Chambers

Thanks Owlstalkers for all the condolences, I will print of and give this thread to his family to show the Owls family paying their respects.
  15. What do you expect the lad to say when he joins a new club. He's hardly going to talk like it's a step down for him, Forest are crap and he's gutted to have left Wednesday. He has to give out the soundbites for the Forest fans, not us. People read far too much into the niceties of player/manager comments and twist them to what they want or think they should say.
  16. Championship finances

Bolton's turnover will include parachute money from PL, club income will be significantly lower.
  17. just got back.......

Great performance from team. All did well with Afobe and Semedo standing out for me. McCabe a little bit of pace. Funny to see Tricky Dicky being escorted out of Reading end still celebrating after our second. Met SG outside afterwards so was nice to congratulate him in person. He was pleased but said we should have had at least 4!
  18. Bystander

He got a yellow for running up towards centre circle to carry on arguing with Nithu, after the two reds and when things were calming down. Pretty sure it was for getting involved when he didn't have to and continuing to incite the situation, rather than for headlock.

  20. The Michail Antonio Story

This puts our Player clips to shame, its the most interesting clip I've ever seen. I would love to see this type of insight on into our players, academy, staff, stadium etc...Its things like this that help to build deep links and bonds to the players/club rather than just taking supporters for granted. Its like déjà vu watching interviews the same tired crap on our site. Its not like clips like this cost much to produce, just some creativity to do something different and interesting. Why can Reading do it and not us. Am I hoping for to much?
  21. Are Helan and Antonio undropable?

Exactly, especially when we have JJ and Maghoma as back up.
  22. Just got back

I don't disagree it was a bold sub and credit for him for being positive, but it unbalanced the team and didn't work. Coke was doing well in partnership with the McPhail and Semedo. JJ came on and did a different job to what Coke had been doing, but that allowed them to build more through the middle and create more pressure. It was always likely to come given they were behind at home, but I think the change played into their hands more than giving us more options. A better change would be to bring JJ on for Antonio and give him a chance from the wing. If Coke had to go off it should have been for Palmer or McCabe. When Palmer did come on, 10 minutes later, he took that role and did much better than JJ had. However, JJ then went up front and lost a lot more than Fryatt had. He didn't hold the ball up well and didn't even bother to challenge for aerial balls most of the time. The obvious change was to bring on Nuhiu to hold the ball up and carry on Fryatts hard work. JJ's more likely to create something than Nuhiu, but we were winning and should have focused on maintaining the control we had exerted as the match had built up rather than going hard for a second. Instead we let them have more more possession, build their pressure and gave them opportunities to create chances. Their crowd were getting frustrated and they weren't creating that much after their bright opening - we were the ones on top after about 30 minutes until our subs in the second half changed it again. As I said, it might have happened anyway but we didn't help ourselves. I still take lots of positives from a good team performance from all the lads.
