  1. If Bruce does go then Daniel Stendel is someone that I’d like us to shortlist. 50% win rate during his one season in charge of Hannover 96. Onto Barnsley where he has a 56% success rate and achieved automatic promotion last season. Has said he is keeping his options open when Boro were rumoured to be interested recently. Not yet signed a new deal with Barnsley and is out of contract next summer.
  2. Had a go at creating something a bit more modern the other day. I like our current badge but always preferred the more simplistic Owl design.
  3. I’m more frustrated at last Saturday’s result if I’m honest. Before the game on Saturday I said I’d take a win against Reading and a point at Millwall as acceptable. Then the Rotherham game could go either way with it being a local derby, though we should have the upper hand. As Michael Hector has said on Twitter, last night was a battle, a scrap... Think the general rule has gotta be winning the home games and see picking up anything away as a bonus.
  4. Forgot to mention Hutch. He played alongside O’Grady at centre back & did well. Seemed his usual combative self & looked ready for first team action.
  5. Just left the ground. My summary of the game - A good 45 minutes for Winnall. Took his goal in typical fashion, linked play well & almost had a very good 2nd goal. Fitness is the main thing now of course. But he came through unscathed and that’ll do him the world of good. Stobbs’ main & sadly only asset is his delivery into the box. Put in several good crosses in the first half including the assist for Winnall’s goal. But the other, younger players are passing him in terms of development. Wildsmith did ok as did Fox. Eyad Hammoud is gonna be a real talent. Very excited by him & would love to see a partnership up top with Borukov. He has that low centre of gravity & seems to glide across the pitch with ease. Has the mannerisms of a certain top player who I won’t mention as we need to keep him grounded for now He seems very confident on the ball and may well be the next one that Jos has his eye on for the first team. Overall an enjoyable afternoon. UTO.
  6. I agree. He was okay last night but wasn't his best performance. But that is only because he has set the performance bar so high with what he has achieved this season. Fantastic player and we finally have a very good left-back / LWB.
  7. Paul Sturrock for me. A very good manager for the level we were at and got us up from League One in no time, when other ‘fallen giants’ have taken much longer to recover. To be honest though, I do think he inherited a well assembled squad for that level. Players who could immediately get us challenging (Maclean, Peacock, Bullen, Heckingbottom) mixed with several who were at an age to allow scope for development (Brunt, Whelan, JP etc). Jos is doing very well so far considering the restraints. Admirable the way he trusts the young players and so far that trust is being rewarded. I’ve wanted Matt Penney to be given a chance for a while so to see him in particular doing well is pleasing.
  8. Good effort that. I like the retro Owl printed into the blue. Nice little bit of detail. Personally though I prefer our home shirts to have no yellow. Just blue, white and black which I feel are our proper colours.
  9. It's Forest vs Wednesday for Lolley Laurie Whitwell: Nottingham Forest and Sheffield Wednesday are in a fight to sign Joe Lolley from Huddersfield. The 25-year-old midfielder is believed to have a choice of destinations having only featured sparingly for David Wagner this season, scoring twice in 10 games. It is thought Huddersfield would sanction a permanent transfer. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-5330799/Transfer-Deadline-Day-LIVE-Arsenal-Chelsea-rest.html
  10. If he is to leave then he can only sign for Bolton this season, as he has already played competitive games for 2 sides - Bolton (on loan) and West Ham (vs Shrewsbury at the weekend)
  11. Just read a report that appears to state he has a €10m buy-out clause in his contract http://www.lavozdegalicia.es/noticia/gradario/2015/07/09/alex-lopez-saldra-cedido-inglaterra-/00031436425023459225244.htm?utm_source=Kazi+Media+Group&utm_medium=Kazi+Media+Group "Thus, the midfielder will stay until 2019 lugado Celta maintain his buyout clause of 10 million euros."
  12. Latest article... http://www.maisfutebol.iol.pt/transferencias/liga/nacional-marco-matias-praticamente-certo-no-sheffield-wednesday?utm_campaign=auto-tw&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social National: Marco Matias virtually certain at Sheffield Wednesday Best Portuguese scorer in the latest edition of the League will be enhanced to Carlos Carvalhal in England "The transfer of Marco Matias for Sheffield Wednesday is practically closed, and it seems, therefore, that the Portuguese striker will be strengthened to Carlos Carvalhal, the new coach of the English emblem. Marco Matias was, moreover, dismissed the work of the National, although the official version is that the player is "authorized to handle personal matters." The contract signed with Sheffield Wednesday should is consummated in the coming hours. The Bursaspor also came to formally take interest in hiring Marco Matias, but the fate of the best Portuguese scorer in League 2014/15 will, it seems, the second tier of English football. The National receives a sum of about three million euros."
  13. http://www.maisfutebol.iol.pt/transferencias/sheffield-wednesday/rio-ave-tiago-pinto-deve-juntar-se-a-carvalhal-em-sheffield?utm_campaign=auto-tw&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social Quick Google Translate... Always fun Tiago Pinto prepares to return to emigrate, and England should be the destination. Most likely, this time, it is a move to Sheffield Wednesday, which will be coached by Carlos Carvalhal. The left side had in hand a proposal for Legia Warsaw, to a contract for two seasons, but have emerged over two possibilities, both of England. One of them, there is, of Sheffield Wednesday, that this now appears on the front to ensure Tiago Pinto. The emblem of the "Championship" will be trained by Carlos Carvalhal, as mentioned above, and it is likely that the squad is strengthened with more Portuguese. Marco Matias (National) is just one of the possibilities
