  2. I don’t have a problem with Windass on Twitter. He takes abuse, he gives it out. He says it as he sees it. He gets involved in banter, debates and arguments. He’s opinionated and people give opinions on him. Also no problem with players that go on it but never say anything controversial, don’t get in debates, arguments or give an opinion. What I do have a problem with is players from either of the above two categories that then get offended when they see something they don’t like. That is social media. If you are in the public eye I.e. socially topical (that’s what social media is!!!) then you have two choices:- 1. Go on social media but have a thick skin 2. Don’t go social media Dont:- 3. go on social media and then moan about social media. (Go to choice 2) 4. Go on social media, say nothing but let it effect your mental health (go to choice 2). We we’re far better as a society without social media but it’s not going away and they are the choices they have. Personally, I’m amazed Clubs don’t ban their players from social media as part of their contracts other than club managed accounts.

  4. League of Ireland is much improved compared to how it was just couple of seasons ago. There are some good players there and plenty of young prospects playing first team football week in week out. As a result some really talented players started emerging and getting picked up by some top European (Schalke 04, Sevilla, Borussia Monchengladbach, Wolfsburg, Inter, Milan, etc...) and British clubs. I recon that good scouting could find us 2 or 3 cheap but talented players either for our U-18 or first team squad. 1. Dawson Devoy: 20 years old with 70 first team starts under his belt and Ireland U-21 international. Playmaker who reminds me of young Wes Hoolahan, who sees everything that is going on around him and plays killer pass. MK Dons had bid accepted for him (they have great eye for young talent) but He decided to turn them down. 2. Andy Lyons: 21 years old left back or wing back who works tirelessly down his flank, creates and scores goals. Another U-21 international with plenty of first team experience already. 3. Darragh Burns: 19 years old winger who already played 50 first team games for St Patrick. Bit rough, very quick and skillful. Played for every Irish underage squad and just got called up for their U-21's. It would be stupid not to look towards Ireland and see if there are players that could improve us both short and long term.

  5. Black shorts, blue and white hooped socks is the classic combination, from the early 60s Yellow shirts for away strip with the light blue trim and shorts and yellow socks.

  6. If we are, I'd vote to sponsor Darren Moore rather than any one player. Throw our support behind the whole project.

  7. It’s that time of year again when rumours about new kits come out & concept kits hit the internet I personally love the blue shorts with white socks combo like this classic from the 1980 getting a bit sick of black shorts & black socks constantly think we need to totally refresh our look for next Season. Last seasons home kit wasn’t bad to fair from macron would love them to do one similar to this beauty from 1980 I’ve always liked the Porto kits which are similar to this look . Also wish the club would revert to blue & yellow for the away kit like the one in 1980 to .yellow & blue is the perfect away Wednesday combo imo .So what’s everyone thoughts on shorts & socks colour combo ? Just throwing it out there

  12. Black shorts are what set us apart from every other club that plays in blue and white stripes.

  13. There’s no way Spurs would currently see us a step up from MK. Our record with young loan players is hideous. Was only 5 months ago that Wolves pulled a player back to send him to MK.

  16. He was reported to be on £1.5mill a year at Manure. 2 appearances in 4 years. Good for him but blimey, the world of football is a funny old place isn’t it?

  17. You’ve come into a positive thread about a promising young striker of ours potentially signing a long term deal, and tried to throw hate at Moore. bore off, daft sod.

  18. For the home... Wouldn't be anywhere near my preferred kit, but could see them going for something like this... Has to be different enough from last year's without alienating the fanbase...

  19. Fully agree - that's the best explanation I've ever read to of how to navigate things. Can't help but think Windass is one tweet away from a major issue both for him and the club.

  20. Yep. White shorts make us look like Wigan or Huddersfield. Black shorts are a must for a Wednesday kit.

  21. Corbeanu made 16 apps for us, scoring 2 and assisting 3. He made 17 for MK Dons. Scoring 1 and assisting 1. Wouldn't you say that based on the stats, his loan move here was more successful than his loan spell there? Based on that, why wouldn't Spurs loan us a player? BPF and Storey got plenty of game time, as did Dean when he was fit. No reason why they wouldn't send a player our way if the money is right.

  22. The stuff of legends. Finally gets squad time, picks up form, gets unfairly sent off, red card rescinded so there's no match ban, but gets injured during training so is out anyway.

  25. Hooper - 10 times the player I thought we’d signed. Didn’t exactly get off to the perfect start but he was some player when he got going. He could drop deep, find a pass, hold it up, assist, score, showed up in big games and he worked hard! Kieran Lee - Pound for pound my favourite Wednesday player ever. Never moaned or groaned, ran himself silly, scored goals, won tackles! He was the perfect box to box midfield player, which isn’t too bad when you consider we signed him to play second fiddle at RB to Lewis Buxton. Kieran Westwood - Stayed too long and sort of tarnished his reputation a little I feel. But 2014-2018 he was miles above anyone I’d seen in the Championship. There was games I’d walk away from thinking how on earth did he save that. Brought a calmness to defence I am yet to see before or after. Honourable mention for Forestieri, probably the most talented individual and could do things other players couldn’t but could be wasteful, selfish and sometimes paying for himself. I also feel the 3 names abov

  28. We reportedly turned down several bids for him from Millwall last summer. I don't know what you're getting at when you say he's 'not exactly the most stable person', but his fitness record has been fine until this season. He played 44 times for us last season, for example. I suppose it comes down to what the medical experts are saying. If they think he's recovered from his issue and is unlikely to break down again, then I wouldn't hold one bad injury against a player of his quality.

  29. True also of most clubs in the Premier League. Wednesday would never have been able to hold on to David Hirst in modern football if Man U were interested when they bidded for him in the early 90s.

  30. We'd discover them, they'd have a cracking half a season and then clubs would smash irresistible bids in that we couldn't turn down and even if Channers said "NOT FOR SALE" he'd have to let them go as they'd want to go on and upwards into the Premier League etc

  31. This. Only stipulation I would make would be the return of bold red numbers on the back of the home shirt as of old. No big white panel on the back.

  32. 10 million should cover everything? How many league 1 clubs have that? It’s dc’s fault he pays all the players far too much..about time we started payin league 1 wages

  33. sadly if we didnt have chansiri we would go bust . league 1 turnover is about 10 million or so . covers nothing . and they aint many billionaires out there , all tyre kickers as mandric once called them. lots of new owners promise the earth very few deliver

  36. The benefits of playing a right back and a left winger at centre back, when you had centre backs available. It was noticeable how much better we got when Storey, Hutch and a n other were in the back 3. Had we played 3 centre backs from the start of the season instead of square pegs in round holes we would now be a championship team. Its really that simple.

  37. Our fans have so far raised 445 pound for the staff at that pub as a Thank-you for all their hard work looking after us at the weekend . We usually get slated on social media etc off the London mps etc when we are down there I bet nothing like this is mentioned though . May not seem relevant but I think it's a great gesture and shows our appreciation for their hard work but not many stories like that reach the tabloids just the bad ones .

  38. Love it when players give it back to fans and then the fans can’t handle it. Either on social media, or on a matchday. I’m gonna call you a ******** for 90 mins but don’t you dare not clap me at the end of the game Cracks me up how precious and entitled people are.

  40. Mikael Mandron has rejected a new deal at Crewe. Scored 10 goals last season, though missed a couple of months through injury. Crewe only scored 37 as a team. Big striker 6' 3". Can't have been on high wages at Crewe. Is he what we could do with as a squad player in L1? Described as being popular in the dressing room and a leader on Crewe forum.
