  1. For old times sake. I quite like the random use of capitals, it shows he’s serious. Enjoy…. RE: Sheffield Wednesday V Wycombe Wanderers' Dear Sir/Madam, I am a Blade, a Sheffield United fan. This season has been one of the most enjoyable I have so far in the 27 years of supporting The Blades home and away. Last weekend also spoilt it quite a bit for me as we didn’t quite get the result we wanted and so The Owls nicked 2nd spot with one game remaining meaning we need to beat Exeter City on Saturday and hope your football club pull off an amazing feat and spoil their ALREADY PLANNED promotion party. I understand, despite your relegation, you are a good team on your day as you showed us when we came down to your ground earlier on in the season and beat us fair and square. I am just praying you can overcome the understandable sadness and being relegated and really rally yourselves to beat the overly arrogant Owls on their own patch. Their fans already believe they’re up, they’ve already beaten you apparently and that your ‘Tin-Pot’ club has not even a chance on Saturday. WELL LET ME TELL YOU THIS WYCOMBE WANDERERS F.C – YOU DO HAVE A CHANCE, PLENTY OF CLUBS INCLUDING EXETER HAVE BEATEN THEM THIS SEASON AND THERE IS NO REASON YOU CANNOT DO THE SAME. PLEASE, play with your heads held high, chests out bursting with pride as you are a professional club and good one at that. You will all be in Blades’ hearts forever should you win at Hillsborough and how nice would it be to silence 35,000 arrogant fans in the stands who just see you see you as a given. I will be praying you win and pull this off. Yours in hope

  2. Can't pin it all on one game, wherever we finish (I'm assuming we're not getting autos) we can look at about 6-8 games where we've absolutely thrown away stupid points and think "if only" e.g. blowing a 2 goal lead at Wimbledon and BPF literally dropping 2 points on the ground at Ipswich, those 4 points would have had us level on points with second place. Add the Bolton giveaway and we'd be 2 points clear of third place and thinking about the title. But even if we'd won those points it doesn't mean that every other result would have been identical, there'd have been different psychological approaches to games by ourselves and our rivals. For me, the biggest single moment that cost us this season was Luongo getting injured at Rotherham in the final seconds of the game, we were never the same in the months when he was missing. But we'll never know, he may have got an even worse injury in subsequent games and been out for longer.

  3. Imagine what a good manager could do with this squad

  4. What I like about Moore is that I can see that he’s thinking long term. Fans weren’t happy with the 3-5-2, and yes I didn’t even understand sticking with it given the injuries we had, but it’s now paying dividends cos the players all know that system inside out. I am fed UP with sacking managers after a season or two. If we don’t go up we need to stick with Moore and think about the long term project.

  5. And just as equally, we could totally screw it up

  6. As much as Moore Seems to have finally crafted a squad, team and system capable of entertaining us and getting wins, he deserves just as much credit (along with Aforementioned Barry Bannan) for lifting the black clouds and healing a VERY real rift between club and supporters in such a short space of time. Everyone says all they want is a team that tries hard, a bit of ambition and blah blah blah, they get that and suddenly its not good enough. I was unconvinced by Moore early this season like many, it took a long time to get going under him and for a while it looked like mid table was the best we would do. But after the new year, the way he addressed weaknesses so well in the window (keep in mind he had very little freedom to do so in the first window) and the way he has the team playing with pride. IF we go up this season, I would like to see him given backing and barring utter disaster atleast 3 years to craft a championship side. IF we dont, I want to give him next season to see if he can make his mark and judge it after that. Either way, Big Darren Moore fan right here now.

  7. I’m surprised that the thought of ‘being in blades hearts forever’ didn’t spur Wycombe on to beat us that day.

  8. They didnt even win that day.

  9. After a massively draining away game on Saturday evening, Moore picked a team and setup that absolutely battered Crewe tonight. It's not his fault the players missed such glorious chances. Berahino scores any of his sitters, and Gregory puts his chance away, and we're looking at a very different scoreline. Do you want him to wipe their arses for them, too?

  10. I’d take three 1-0 victories like that for the next three games.

  12. Just when you thought Moore knew what he was doing. Yes we did win against possibly the worst team I have ever seen at Hillsboro but OMG

  13. Doesn't surprise me one bit. We've got ourselves a gem. Blokes been like a breath of fresh air since he came and gets little credit for the transformation and recruitment he had to perform at the end of last season/beginning of this. Yes, it took a bit of time to get the team performing, it always does when a new group gets assembled and whilst being hampered by a rake of injuries to boot. He also looks to have added some interest and direction for the younger players as well. Long may it last.

  14. Thought he was playing centre half for most of the game. Ineffective and always looking for the Hollywood ball when he’s so deep.

  15. I was convinced we had a shot at autos until I saw thus thread. Now I see there's no way it'll happen because George Hirst might play against us. Got to say I'm gutted, I was just starting to believe.

  16. Until yesterday, we very much imagined that we would gladly take a point on Saturday; the point that keeps Wycombe far enough away from us that we edge closer to the playoff line. However, yesterday produced an unexpected enough turn of events, that a new line is in sight. I am not saying the playoffs is safe; we are naturally pessimistic, and not without reason. But, we have to give ourselves the best possible chance of seizing this automatic dream. After all, we have done it from an unlikely situation before. I wouldn't put the "let's gamble" argument down to any mentality, as much as the simple mathematics of promotion. If we get 2nd, we are 100% promoted. If we finish 4th, say, then the usual pre-playoff arguments about momentum, home advantage, destiny or the like, don't change the chance of promotion much- it's about 25%. Should we sacrifice some of the security of the 25% playoff spot chance by playing to win, and giving ourselves a shot of the 100% chance? Of course we should. We have to gamble on Saturday. The response might be, "well, we play to win every game." This is a different "playing to win". Seeing that it has to be 9 points to give us the automatic shot means that we can't approach Saturday like any other away game against a decent team. We should really go for it. Risk losing. Back ourselves that, if we lose, we can still get enough points next week. Push late on, do not settle for a point. It's not Moore's way, and I don't think it will be our way. But, it should be. And I really hope it is.

  18. For a lot of fans, football is a bit like politics: One they've reached their view, they are unwilling to shift from it, admit they were wrong etc., irrespective of any evidence to the contrary. Labelling a manager crap from the outset and waiting for him to inevitably fail (which nearly all of them do, particularly in the lower leagues) is the easiest thing on the planet to do. I've had my doubts about Moore, I still have a few lingering doubts about certain shortcomings he may/may not have (in my opinion), but that does not mean I can't give him credit for what has been an excellent run of form in the second half of this season. IF we somehow manage to sneak automatic, then he and the players have outdone what my expectations were for the season. And IF we get in the play offs, then we have done very well too. I just find the OPs efforts quite pathetic tbh. We got the win and have a chance (a small one) of automatic and all they can do is knock the manager, says his tactics are useless. Its not big and it's not f*cking clever.

  19. Moore can’t put the ball in the net for them either. We had enough chances tonight fall to the right players to have won 3 or 4 nil.

  21. Just wondering if anyone is going to write a heart filled letter to Wycombe? It worked really well for the blades last time out . "LET ME TELL YOU THIS" it's got to be one of my favourite things to ever happen Related to football. If anyone was to write a letter to Wycombe what would it say this time round convince them to just roll over and let Wednesday win?

  22. I’m sorry to say my dad has passed away, he played for Wednesday in 70/71, we are so proud of his footballing career and the goal he scored against QPR, which was on match of the day.

  23. You know, I'm starting to agree with this. Not in all cases, but with some it's just the same digs again and again, irrespective of the results. If we lose, it's all his fault. It we win, it's in spite of him. You can't have it both ways.

  24. Moore haters playbook through the season: - up-to November: start anti-Moore thread when we lose - up-to February: start anti-Moore threads when don’t win - up-to April: start anti-Moore threads when we win by a single goal (well some of them, a few of them haven’t started a thread for a while…but you know they are just waiting)

  26. I said very early in Moore’s reign that he reminded me a bit of Big Ron. Man management skills, recruitment, style of play, managed WBA etc. I think he’ll be a very good manager for us, the experts on here don’t but then again they rated Monk

  27. Some of the constant digs at Moore both before and during the game are beyond tedious now. In fact I’m even starting to think their problem with him goes beyond football.

  29. We’re on target for one of the highest points tallies in our history. We’ve only lost 2 in the last 17 games. And that’s been done after being embargoed this summer and lacking a natural goalscorer all season. And we still have fans slating Moore…. I don’t get it, he’s done a great job this season with what he’s had to work with, got a team spirit there again and reconnected the fanbase. Whether we go up or not he gets another year for me to carry on the rebuild

  30. Considering how assured he's looked in this run we've been on I think I've entirely forgiven him for the Ipswich error now. Those points he cost us have been made up and more from his performances lately, including a couple of hugely important one-on-one saves at vital times. I was fearing the worst until he came out to claim that 95th minute corner tonight. Massive signing.

  31. I’m a bit concerned about him Looks like he’s red-lining a bit to me There were points last night where he looked more tired then I’ve ever seen him look He has carried us through so much of this season, we can’t afford him to break down now

  39. My partner Sarah was watching the MK Dons game with me (she's from the dark side!) and said how much she enjoyed the game and even cheered louder than me after Bazza's incredible goal, stating that was the goal of the season. We then both watched the "other" team against Bristol City yesterday and she actually said "why can't they play like Wednesday did, they're far more entertaining to watch live" (well in the first half...as I concur) She's actually looking forward to the Crewe game tonight.....you never know, I might convert her

  40. A quick change of plan meant I sat/stood back of North last night. And I can't fault the support from the lads in that back corner. Pato playing where he was was simply to get at them early. And we should've been 3 up. Gregors wasn't 100% so the luongo switch was perfect to push Bannon further forward. Dunkley was to free Johnson up left side as an outlet. Believe me. After game everyone of the players were ******** knackered. 1 nil v Crewe could've been the 6 v Cambridge. Wycombe Saturday and a few are back. #wawaw

  41. I thank you for your polite reply I am aware of the "Procedure" to progress to The Championship, but if I may put in the vernacular, rather than in the form,at of a letter to The Times in 1899 I am crapping myself every f.ookin' match, Crewe loom like Real Madrid, Wycombe become Bayern munich and Pompey a cross between Brazil 1970 and Barca I Know its all in my head, but thats how it is,,,Its frightening, daunting , nothing like a thrill nor exhilaration, The drip drip drip of "what ifs", its like chinese water torture, its wearing, it strips you of your manhood... its like being stood naked on the Kop, with everyone pointing and laughin' at yer t*dger and no way am I having that....again

  42. I thought Palmer had a great game tonight. He got Hunt out of the 5h1t with his determination to get back and he got Dunkley out of the 5h1t by tracking that runner behind when Dunkley completed missed his header. He also did his thing of playing in two or more positions during a match. it’s hard to pick a MoM tonight so I’m going to give my vote to Palmer.

  47. Dear Darren Push Bannan forward, fine him if you see him in our own half when we are attacking Keep Johnson wide on the left, with Hunt wide on the right, don't play him as a centre back Have Gregory and Berihino up top, not both dropping deep, I don't mind if one drops deep but not both at the same time Do what you want with the rest
