  1. A random post to basically cast a player to the wayside when you yourself has spoken about unity and positivity of the squad.

  2. One of our most talented players. Great engine, versatile and capable of reaching heights most of our squad couldn't dream of. He's been off the boil for a year when he was asked to basically carry the team solo, now he needs games and confidence. Reminds me a lot of Antonio going through a bad spell and everyone getting on his back. Brunt too. And Whelan. We'll never learn.

  3. But what year do you think he would want?

  4. Due to Leyton orient having players test positive that led to the postponement of there tie with Tottenham. The EFL have now made them forfeit because they failed to fulfill the fixture . What an absolute crock of sh@t . Not only will orient now miss out on tv money from the clash and possibility to play Chelsea in the next round , they are an EFL member ! Yet they make a decision that favours the premier league team . Astonishing , makes a mockery of the testing procedure. Sorry if in the wrong section just made me mad but not surprised.

  5. £8-10m with add ons etc will be good business in my opinion. Iorfa has been a great player for us at a bargain price but our mistake in the past has been not listening to offers for our players and then seeing them leave for nothing or their value drops. Sell Iorfa to help balance books and reinvest into the team with a few more signings - this is the model we should use.

  11. excellent season, a hard working side who never gave up. I saw Wednesday score 6 for the first time v Swansea, 2 excellent results v Newcastle, a good cup run ended by Liverpool but we threw the title away in the last 3 games. as for Liverpool and Man Utd being untouchable, we won 2-0 at Anfield and 2-1 at Old Trafford the following season

  13. Personally I’m sold on @edinburghowl assessment of the boy. I think it’s clear to see that Monk is trying to build a dressing room of good characters who will give their all for the club. Good signs IMO.

  15. Another Owlstalk myth, Paxo/Doyen (who no longer exist) choose the players. In the Petersen thread an actual grown adult who truly believes that the owner’s son chooses players to buy. It’s the same re. Elev8 and D-Taxis. No wrongdoing found by EFL in both regards to their existence as business entities and their involvement as sponsors of the club but still the same people with the same shiiite jokes peddling the same garbage just to hammer Chansiri and the club. Boring and divisive.

  16. No, it's not a thread about a distopian future where you can't buy toilet rolls or leave the house. It's Wednesday, back from the abyss. Promotion Winners 1984 Imagine the scenes when we finally achieve promotion. What were the scenes like at Hillsborough back in 1984? I don't remember a great deal about it other than listening on the radio and watching clips on the telly and picking this piece of memorabilia from the old club shop, next to the south stand and the kop. Back then, just like today, Liverpool and Man Utd seemed untoucha

  17. He’s not a striker, he’s not a central midfielder, he’s a left winger or at a push a left wing back. Play him there or not at all. He can fight it out with Penney, although he’s probably the better player out of the two, in my opinion.

  18. we brought him in , he did ok , we sold him for a profit .......thats good business...whats not to like ?
    5 points
  19. We never played him enough when he was fit, and he wasn’t fit often enough However if you accept that we need to sell our better players for fair offers then there’s no point feeling bad about it when they succeed elsewhere Bank the cash, re-invest, move on

  20. Great to see that three games is enough to be considered consistent nowadays! Here’s hoping for a clean sheet tomorrow so we can have a consistently unbeatable keeper/defence. I wish Jaoa all the success in the world. I’m hopeful we have add ons to be triggered and possible sell on fee, but he wasn’t all that great in his time here. In fact he was either really good or not bothered and I don’t think that’s down to a succession of managers as much as I think himself.

  28. Great days they were. Wilcos side was full of running and really grafted. They were also supremely fit. Had we backed Wilco financially like Leeds did, I'm convinced he would have won the title with us. Typical Wednesday.

  29. I can’t give any insight into the decision making from the top in our club. I can just see plenty of clubs adopting sustainable strategies that still enable them to compete at the highest levels without sitting at the edge of financial oblivion. If it’s possible to build a club from scratch in 11 years that’s now competing with Europe’s elite we should be capable of improving our lot. Organisation, planning, expertise etc, etc. One guy from Thailand with no previous football experience will not achieve that alone and only a fool would believe himself capabl

  30. -12 point deduction due to financial irregularities, shell companies that don’t actually exist putting money into the club, chairman’s name plastered everywhere as we can’t get anyone else to pay us enough to advertise, squad that is still hugely overpaid but with very few saleable assets, pandemic cutting revenue due to crowd loss. I’m guessing yes.

  31. Our circumstances aren't ideal and its a tough market but, I think we are seeing more and more that young talented players are less inclined to be satisfied going down the route of signing for a big club and spending years in their reserves. It's born out by the amount of talented youngster moving overseas to the likes of the Bundesliga where the wages for most clubs are more aligned with the Championship but they know they will play and have excellent coaching. This is where our focus needs to be. Attract players with the assurance that they'll get games in a younger

  32. Don’t get the obsession... he’s not longer our player. Yeah his dad was a bit good and then some but doesn’t mean his son will be the same. Hope he does well in his career but won’t be with us so f.uck him

  34. Happy to state I am pleased with this signing, and expect him to be a big hit, scoring a few goals for us, potentially getting double figures. I suspect he will provide a pleasant surprise and make an immediate impact with his physical presence and heading ability, especially from set plays. That’s free kicks and corners to you lot.

  35. I would hope a striker seeing as Paterson can play so many positions through the middle and right hand side. We need a striker more than we need say Dion Sanderson

  36. Balanced thread, not looking to kick the club, owner, manager etc just looking to establish a clear picture if possible. It’s widely accepted now that unearthing unknown talents is a distant memory in scouting. Instead, the focus is firmly on analysing players and finding the ones who’s attributes best suit your system, style, culture and who will fit seamlessly into your club. If they are young, neglected at a club or that particular combination of traits have yet to be recognised all the better. So, what do we know as fact about our scouting dept, is it even a

  40. It's like when that middle-aged, socially-awkward bloke at work finally says something which gets a laugh after he's had a few pints at the Christmas 'do', then spends the next ten years desperately trying to find ways to work references to it into conversations so they can relive the one time they didn't seem like a complete and utter vortex of charisma or personality.

  43. Has always looked a decent player to me. Not sure he is the guy to come in and bag us twenty goals a season, but a contribution of 8 to 10 would be useful, if a few others are able to chip in with similar amounts. Personally, I think it's going to be pretty hard for us to find a quality, prolific striker who is the finished article. Not sure there's many of them around, let alone ones available for us to realistically get.

  44. According to the chairman: So we have our recruitment department with the manager at the centre and we have used the majority of the same team since the beginning, and it is now stronger and wider with contacts all over the world. The team has grown and improved, with key additions introduced. We have an extensive network of scouts and I have advisers too. In Germany for example our team scouted Julian Borner for around eight games before we signed him last summer. Of course, we have always had an internal recruitment department that I believe is now the best it has be
