  1. Too many managers petrified of losing Players over-coached and over complicated. 90% of games are spent passing between the back 4 Take yesterday for example. Blackburn, 2 Pts in 18 FFS, but Monk floods the midfield and tries to Nick one in the last 20. How awful is that The authenticity has well and truly evaporated

  2. I do not watch any other football matches that do not involve us. I am at the stage that i absolutely hate the game, and all it stands for.

  3. As much as I have a soft spot for some players, sometimes you have to be realistic if you want to move forwards then you have to to throw sentimentality out of the window. We've a couple of do or die players that would fit itnto a top two side on attitude and mentality. The rest aren't say up to it, too happy to coast along and see what happens rather than take a game by the scruff and say right we're winning this come what may.

  4. The tall and short of it is he’s crap. He has one ok game last week and everyone thinks he’s the dogs bo**oks but he was back to his usual useless self today. How this guy gets anywhere near our first team I’ll never know, injuries or not I’d play one less in midfield and play an extra striker before I played him. I would honestly rather have Semedo back than him.

  5. My conclusion is this... Monk has been lucky with his start because so far his defensive set up has been pretty awful to watch...most of the games we have won we hung on for dear life. We desperately need new quality players and a bloody decent striker. We need some new ideas ( Monks dept) new coaches? The way we concede late on and give free kicks away in dangerous areas is shocking. We will prob beat Swansea 3 nil and ill be posting about going up on saturday. ***** hate this game !

  6. Ultra defensive sh*t tactics against a poor Blackburn team there for the taking was my diagnosis. And no, I still haven’t calmed down yet.

  7. Have a bad 10 minutes and we’ve suddenly written off the season 4 points off top spot and It’s only November!!!!!!!!

  8. I've seen this posted a couple of times since yesterday, and I've no idea where this is coming from? What games have we hung on for dear life in? Huddersfield was a comfortable away display. Boro was utterly dominant. Wigan was a poor game, but they create a sum total of .77 xG. Stoke, had one chance in 90 minutes...again, we certainly weren't hanging on for dear life. Why can't fans just accept, we're a very average side, full of players who are inconsistent and weak mentally. But, fortunately, the rest of the league has a similar make-up. Monk isn't a miracle worker. He's making us competitive and hard to beat. They'll be bumps in the road. Let's aim to be in touching distance in January, and hope Monk can bring in a couple of new faces that might just make a difference.

  9. Gotta say I’d agree , I don’t particularly go out of my way to watch anything if it’s not us playing England I have absolutely zero interest in

  11. ...Sunday afternoon stellas, but here goes anyway... what I don’t get is the reaction to yesterday’s defeat. A lot stated at the end of last season that we needed a clear out, we got rid of some deadwood. We were then embargoed. We then lost our manager two weeks before the season started. We appointed monk a few weeks in. We’re now in a decent position and have put some good performances in. We’re doing better than I’d thought we would at the start of the season. I’m not surprised by yesterday’s loss, the team still needs improvements, that’s obvious. I’m gutted that we lost from a winning position, but not surprised. i think monk is doing well and will continue too. Get Bannan, luongo, lees back in, give FF more game time, add a couple in January, playoffs is more than achievable from a season that could have quite easily been a real struggle.

  14. Completely disagree. Whether one up top or two up top our lack of a pacey option has hampered our play and made us predictable and one dimensional for 4 years plus. No pace robs us of different ways of playing.

  15. Simply have to many bottle jobs When it comes down to the crunch and we need the big time Charlie's to step up they fail time and time again Playoffs ,chances to get in top 2 Too many nearly men in this team And the wages they are getting doesn't justify what we get from them This team needs freshening up big time .I'd take rest of season with some young upcomers and finish midtable than paying reasonable wages for overpriced 'stars' who will take us to midtable . Don't by into this no easy game. I've seen the full 90 minutes of every single Wednesday game this season and teams have beat us not down to them been the better team but us been shyte . Too many big time Charlie's in this team

  16. Those words should have been motivation for any team with a spine of which we have proved we don’t have. You were right Tony, you see us for what we are thank you for pointing it out. Go out and replace these players Mr Monk it is the only way forward!

  17. Yesterday had been coming all season when you look at how many tight games we’ve been involved in. Never get the people who pop up after a win and say we’ll win the league or criticise people for pointing out obvious weaknesses or errors by players. if we don’t address the problems we won’t go up over the course or the season and days like yesterday could occur more frequently. We have to score more goals and put teams to bed more comfortably when we’re in the ascendency

  18. But you must have seen similar, throughout the last 5 year or so. This has been the same every year. Win = Oreyt Draw = I would have taken that before the game, or we've thrown away a lead again late on. Lose = Meltdown because we haven't done enough, or thrown it away again. Meltdown = Others saying; Grow Up - Idiots - Know Nowts - You can't judge at this stage of season - We are only ? points off Auto or Play Offs - There must be a lot more sayings and insults... Well, the Meltdowners have been correct every year.

  19. The rewards are at stake are too great. Fans are more impatient. Chairman are more trigger happy. Add it all together and there we go.

  20. This has been creeping in for a while. I lay the blame with trigger happy chairman who want the golden ticket to the premier at all costs as soon as possible meaning the managers know a couple of iffy results could result in their P45. It leads to managers being ultra defensive trying to avoid defeat instead of trying to win the game first and foremost.

  21. Agreed. But I don't think we'll go up for a long time until we have sports psychologists have a proper look at the club.

  23. We were needlessly conservative in our approach today. We weren't playing a side that warranted as much respect as we gave them. In fact, we gave far less respect to Leeds last week. Sides that get out of this division don't respect Blackburn; they just unapologetically smash them to bits. Sure, any side in this division can beat any other; there are no outstanding sides, and there are no hopeless sides either; all sides are capable of punishing their opponents given the opportunity. But the sides that ultimately prevail will be those that once they sense blood they don't let up until the job's done. I can't imagine any of our fans watching the game today felt the game wasn't there for the taking. It seemed obvious to me even within the first few minutes; this was a side that had taken 2 points from 18, and it showed. I'd ultimately like to ask Monk why we feel brave enough to play a 4-4-2 against Leeds, and even away against Boro, and yet Blackburn away, we're crouching before them with a 4-5-1. I respect Monk and the job he's done in the main so far. Our work rate is good, and I do like to see us compete the lose balls better which is what he's got us doing, but I can't accept our approach to this game.

  24. We’re currently going through reverse evolution; things are so easy, no one has to think. And certain parts of society will end up with jelly fish for brains.

  25. Old habits die hard... Game management was appalling. Yeah, we hadn't played all that well, but we really should be seeing that out against a struggling Blackburn side. Still not convinced we have the mentality to sustain a promotion push. Think we've got onto too many bottlejobs in our team.

  26. Mmmmmmm…..That is a particularly worrying comment.....why in hell are we not attacking a side desperately low in confidence from the word go...……….our porkular neighbours showed last year what can be achieved with an attacking mindset

  27. Score a goal and instead of celebrating you're looking for ref to see if he's got a finger in his ear.

  30. Their players keep getting fouled in the box. It’s quite simple really. Odubajo’s abomination of a performance at Deepdale gave them 2 penalties. So we know ourselves that at least those 2 out of those 7 penalties were legitimate. Which of the other 5 do you think were unfairly given? Do you honestly believe that? Personally, I’ve got no time for daft baseless conspiracy theories.

  31. But they aren't mutually exclusive are they? The aim has to be to maximise our attacking efficiency, whilst also ensuring we stay defensively tight. The last thing Wednesday need to do, is to start conceding cheap goals on a regular basis, in a quest to score more. Clean sheets and good defensive records make you competitive and get teams promoted. Look at Cardiff two seasons ago...no real quality, but an ability to keep clean sheets and edge games out. United went up last season, by basing their system around keeping clean sheets. Of course, you have to score goals...but good defensive records are essential. Boro, finished 7th last season scoring less than a goal a game...they only conceded 41 goals all season. Don't think for one minute that Monk will be happy with us from an offensive point of view. He'll be striving to improve our outputs, whether that be by tinkering with systems, personnel or, waiting til January, to bring in players he'll perceive to make a difference.

  32. Doesn't work. Lee was supposed to be the link player yesterday, but he doesn't have the range of passing. We pretty much bypassed the midfield, lumping up towards Fletcher, chasing up and unders, or at best finding a largely isolated Harris with a bit of space. If Bannan is out for any period of time it needs to be Fletcher with Nuhiu or FF.

  33. Agree Mentioned this last season, Fox is very good crosser of the ball. He wraps his foot around the ball which gives it a bit of bend pace and a lower trajectory. My issue with Fox until Bruce's came in was his defensive positioning, often letting the wide player get ahead of him. Pleased to say this is not now an issue. It looks to me like Fox,s confidence is rightly growing and he could be worth trying on free kicks and corners.

  34. Op in bang on. I’m just not exited about going to games anymore. I’m a season ticket holder and didn’t bother going to Luton, qpr, stoke or Leeds game for different reasons. football is now about time wasting and rolling about on the floor trying to get opponents booked/sent off. Seriously considering not renewing for next season. I much prefer watching/managing my grass roots team at the minute.

  35. The financial implications for clubs are so great now. I think a lot of managers are hampered by that. We might get ourselves promoted, but it won't be pretty to watch. Then, when you get there, it is just a case of making sure you stop up every season. If you try and kick on too much it can all go south very quickly and you end up like a Stoke. The game has become increasingly sterile and overly manufactured in this country. It is all bit too polished and family friendly.

  36. I’ve thought this for a while now it’s losing its soul and the higher up the leagues you go the worse it seems to be, although I guess our noisy neighbours would disagree right now.

  37. Teams that get promoted don’t lose a game when they’re winning after 85mins, that’s 8 points we’ve lost so far this season from winning positions. We don’t know how to manage a game which I’d think would be one of the things a defensively set up team like us should be good at.

  38. Described as PATHETIC today by some chav stood near me. He went into full rant mood saying "I would rather have 500 Wednesday singing for 90 minutes than 3000 sat down doing nothing" ok mate but when has songs about Wilders daughter or Borners todger or singing songs about the tail tugging tuggers at the lane going to encourage Adam Reach bomb down the wing and put a pin point cross on Fletchers head. Cue 30 minutes into the 1st half the said chav leaves his seat to spend the remainder of the half drinking beer on the concourse. Irony obviously is lost on this clown.

  39. If we are really capable of ragging teams all over from start to finish we'd not be on our 4th manager in 4 years and still in the Championship though would we?

  40. Listening to the commentary was hilarious. 'We've had so many corners I think we've been through our entire repertoire.' Cue Joey putting corner ball into side netting. 'I don't think that one is in the repertoire though.'

  41. I don't care about their league position in the first week of November But this was their best result of the season by a distance Beating arsenal and drawing with Chelsea from a losing position is good but won't keep them out of relegation danger Thrashing the likes of Burnley and others of a similar ilk will though

  42. Our season is next season. Clear the decks of the big earners who’s contracts are up, give Monk and his staff a full preseason and bring in younger, hungrier players.

  43. That’s what monk does. Get used to it. Me? I’m bored shitless watching this. Really don’t know why I keep turning up. Even when we scored it didn’t feel right the way we played
