  2. Sorry it's so early chaps. Still feel a bit grog .Pint of Benylin a hot water bottle, a Bernard Cornwell and an early night for me. . --------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday - V - L**ds United Saturday 26th October, 2019 12:30 Kick Off Hillsborough Stadium THE TEAM NEWS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Predicted line-up (4-1-4-1): Westwood Palmer Iorfa Borner Fox Hutchinson Reach Luongo Bannan Harris Fletcher Unavailable: Wildsmith (Injured), Lees (Injured), Bates (Injured) Doubtful: Westwood , Luongo Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood (ankle) is back in contention but boss Garry Monk could stick with Cameron Dawson. Midfielder Massimo Luongo is fit after limping off following his winning goal in the midweek victory over Stoke. --------------------------------------------------------- Predicted line-up (4-1-4-1): Casilla Ayling White Cooper Alioski Phillips Costa Klich Dallas Harrison Bamford Unavailable: Hernandez (Injured), Forshaw (Injured) Doubtful: Shackleton (Injured), Cooper (Injured) Leeds United skipper Liam Cooper (groin) is fit, but boss Marcelo Bielsa might retain the side that started the draw at Preston North End. Patrick Bamford will continue up front despite not scoring since August. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ THE GAFFERS Garry Monk: "I think Leeds are up there with a couple who were probably favourites at the start of the season and they are expected to go up, as they were last year. Unlucky in the situation they had in the play-offs but all credit to Derby what they did. That's the expectation of that club. "It's a big season for them but we are on our own path and have got our own focus. We respect the fact they are a good team with the way that they play, but we'll work our way, focus on ourselves and if we do that, we know we can give ourselves a good opportunity to win the game." Marcelo Bielsa: "All the matches are difficult, whatever position in the table the opposition are in, it's always a hard game. Sheffield Wednesday's style has changed, they've improved a lot, they are not easy to play against, they force opponents into mistakes and their players respond well to the manager's tactics. "In the Championship the results don't allow you to say any team is great, it's very inconsistent. This year the team is better, the level of the players are better, we have more options in the squad." --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Match facts None of the last 42 league meetings between Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United have ended goalless since a 0-0 draw in April 1969 in the top-flight. Excluding play-offs, the most shots by a team against an opponent in the Championship last season was Leeds against Sheffield Wednesday (53 across two games), though they only scored twice against the Owls. Sheffield Wednesday have lost just one of their last seven league games, winning four and drawing two. Leeds have won their last four away league Yorkshire derbies, last winning five in a row between 1997-2000 in the Premier League which included three wins at Hillsborough. Since leaving Leeds in May 2017, Sheffield Wednesday boss Garry Monk has faced his former side on three occasions, winning twice (both with Birmingham last season) and losing once (with Middlesbrough in November 2017). Monk is one of only two managers Marcelo Bielsa has lost more than one game against as Leeds manager, along with Steve McClaren. courtesy of the legendary collinding thread..

  5. Loovens. Joined us during a relegation battle in December when he’d been without a club and only signed a short term deal. Had very low expectations when he signed. Went on to captain us for 4 years and played a big part in 2 play off campaigns.

  6. I suggest arriving at Hillsborough quite early considering you've just shown your entry barcodes to the world which anyone could use to gain entry before you

  9. I've deconstructed this theory many times in the past. Having a prolific scorer is no guarantee of anything (ask Blackburn in the Jordan Rhodes years) and in fact many teams are promoted without one. Indeed, we nearly did it twice under Carvalhal with a modest number as our leading scorer. With our current set up, Fletcher is more than doing his bit. A bigger problem is a lack of threat from just about everyone except him.

  10. Work with a few Swindon fans they are really impressed with Isgrove. Hearing Helans name always makes me think of a classic Owlstalk comment (sorry i dont remember who said it)... "Helan has retired for religious reasons. Good luck finding Allah when you couldn't find Bannan with a 5 yard pass"

  11. If i didn't have a season ticket i honestly don't think i could pay those kind of prices out of principle. It's just way, way too much. £46 to watch championship football

  13. I can't believe how much this is annoying me. I can't believe how blatantly fackin obvious it is what SYP, SAG and Sheffield council are up to. I can't believe this is getting no press coverage. It's fackin criminal,it's fackin diabolical and needs addressing immediately.

  14. The alternative is for them to walk through Hillsborough Corner........... SYP painting themselves into a corner since 1989

  16. Definitely. I haven't missed a single home league game for what will be 25 years in January, and have barely missed any in the last 39 years, but if I wasn't in a financial position to have a season ticket (which has also increased in cost by 40% since Chansiri took over) there's no way I'd pay those prices it's ludicrous especially when the majority of games haven't been all that entertaining anyway. Champagne prices for a can of Tizer.

  19. We shouldn't let this stupid narrative become normalised. A tight 1 0 win in the championship against a team who've won their last two games and made one single chance in the game is not playing 'awful'. We were excellent in defence, the midfield held their shape and we scored one of our two chances.Call it dull or unexciting fair enough. Just to remind some that we spent f all this summer and lost our manager just before the season started. Now a 1 0 home win against Stoke City to take us 3rd in the league is an 'awful' Wednesday performance. Believe me we can do a lot worse.

  20. I think we need a striker who is going to put away 20+ goals for us this season if we are going to make a proper push at going up or making the play off.Look at Norwich last season they had Pukki who shot them to the premier league, is there anyone out there who you think we could seriously go and get and do a proper jog for us, seeing as now we are putting the balls into the right place.

  21. I'll be there, without the lads in the stands 3-1 Saturday Bamford upfront on his own for the scum and it'll be a walk in the park for us

  22. Staggering that we just sit and accept being charged that sort of money. Unless you've got a season ticket it's an absolute rip off. And season tickets are among the 15 most expensive in the country. And we're STILL in the Championship.

  23. Two ways of doing it, replace Fletcher with a more mobile target man, who can score you 20+ goals, or replace the wingers with wide attackers who will score 20 between them. At the moment, we have a non prolific target man, and wingers who don’t score, or not at the level we require

  24. We seem to have accepted that 22k Wednesday fans against L**ds when we are 3rd and, for a couple of hours, could go top, is ok cus it’s on telly. Thats what the mad pricing has done to the fan base. For some 8-10 game a season supporters of the past it doesn’t even cross their mind to go. It’s very sad.

  26. Those ticket prices are nothing short of outrageous. The South isn't even that flipping good. Concourse is always rammed and the leg room is attrocious.

  27. Over the years we have always picked up some great free agents, Kieren Lee, Kieren Westwood, Tom Lees, Barry Bannan, Glenn Loovens, Jose Semedo, Sam Hutchinson, Ross Wallace. Further back players such as Glenn Whelan, Chris Brunt, Chris Kirkland, Miguel Liera. We over the last 20 odd years have made some great free agent signings and good loan signing. It kind of shows what a farce the club was run like when we have wasted so much money on recruiting players on big fees when the core of the team for the last 4 or 5 season has been free agents or players from the youth set up. Take the last match Dawson (youth), Fox (small fee), Borner (free), Iorfa (£500k), Palmer (youth), Harris (free), Bannan (free), Hutch (free), Luongo (£1m), Reach (£5m), Fletcher (free) - 7 of the 11 free agents or youth players. Going forward for me as a team we trade in free agents, good loans and developing our youth team. If players such as Luongo come up for a decent price then bring them in but no more silly fees for players who barely play a game.

  32. Didn't they sort out the drainage when the relaid the pitch? They seem to spray it with water before every game, natures done it for them. If it's slippy Leeds players will be collinding all over the pitch.

  34. Luckily i can afford a ST , but i wouldnt pay matchday prices either. Supporters are supporters weather they can afford a ST or not, but the club sees fit to treat non ST holders as cash cows, and rips them off. Its disgusting.

  41. Fletch is a 10 - 15 goal a season man imo. He's on course to get that this season. Does a great job winning his flick ons and linking play up, but he's nearly 33 now? Big ask to expect him to keep up these levels of performance with how grueling the Championship is. For me, you get some more legs around him. A wide forward type (very much the in thing these days) and encourage the likes of Luongo and Bannan to support Fletch when we are playing the ball up to him. Otherwise, his hard work is wasted.

  42. Football match moved for sky purposes.....fans outraged as they never saw this coming same fans demanding more money that comes from Sky be spent on players For every fan disappointed or inconvenienced by any sky move there are at least 10 who will now get chance to see the game
