  5. #OnThisDay 40 years ago - Big Jack finally got his man - the amazing Mr Andy McCulloch signed for #SWFC for a bargain £60,000. In return Wednesday got 100% effort, blood, sweat, tears, promotion and 49 great goal in 149 games for Wednesday 1979-83. #WAWAW

  6. Agree. DC/his family certainly can't be accused of not investing significant sums into the club. We just have to hope the money is invested more wisely in future, and with Bruce on board you'd like to think so. Fair play to DC

  8. You have to admire the financial backing even if you don't agree with the business methodology. Feels like Mr Chansiri may have given Bruce a financial clean slate

  20. No matter what your opinions on DC are, nobody can fault his ambition and financial backing of the club. I’d love to know what his long term plans are if ever we do make it to the premier league

  21. It’s an utter joke that our owner is committed enough to finance a football club and more than likely is wealthy enough to plough a lot more money into it but is restricted by rules that seem to benefit the teams coming down from the premier league with parachute payments but do precious little for everyone else?

  23. Aye, just register a limited company and you can spend what you want. Why didn't everyone else think of that?

  24. Although the EFL may well end up tapping us on the shoulder, I think next weekend will be a big one for us with announcements. I predict a couple of good surprises. Mr Chansiri loves his family so OITP is the perfect place though may be a day early? I'm taking the grandson to breakfast with the players so I imagine there will be at least some bratwurst available. They go away the day after for training camp, wouldn't surprise me to see 2-3 new faces. Thumbs up to Mr C. He fluffed his lines at the first attempt but is trying his threepenny bits off to put it right it seems.

  25. Seems as though DC has played a blinder here with a little creative accounting . Lets hope he has learned from his mistakes of the past.

  29. I've told my Blunt mates that Chansiri has found a loop hole that wipes out our debt and gives us a massive transfer kitty, it's cooking the books and a bit dodgy, but the football league can't do anything about it because it's not strictly cheating, although it really is. They've all left the chat Pretty sure they are firing emails off "Well let me tell you Football League"

  32. Haven't you spent the majority of this thread slating the club for being linked with Wigan players?

  33. Scott Hogan has had an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury, which he injured again and it needed reconstruction surgery, and had a series of other injuries that’s kept him out for Villa. He’s also on a good wage at Villa and probably got a pay bump due to promotion. Could be an ideal replacement for Abdi.

  38. Went in the main stand for this one. Sat quiet trying not to draw attention. That lasted about 5 mins, then we realised most people round us where Wednesdayites.

  39. That always seemed to be the case at that time, didn't it. Big Jack and his squad started to build the momentum that eventually got us back in to the top flight with Howard Wilkinson.

  40. Can we just have @dunsbyowl banned from the site, it was never 40 years ago more like 7 or 8 eight years ago. He's just making everyone feel very old. Andy Mac a really old fashioned centre forward, who even scored with his thighs.

  44. One of a few at that time Owlerton that turned us from a team of nobody's and gave us something to believe in again after quite a few barren years. Fortunately, I was there at Mansfield (spit!!) for Andy's 100th goal, great away days in that time.

  45. Virtually every one of us who saw him play remembers him with great affection for all the attributes that dunsby highlighted. If we had a poll for the most likeable player of the last 50 years, Andy Mac would probably top it.
