  2. Don’t know when it started, maybe Sky started it with all there transfer deadline coverage but there’s always an unhealthy obsession of getting new signings in. If we signed a player from Germany’s 2nd division who no one had heard of we’d all be celebrating just because it’s a new player. Even though no one knew anything about him. I quite like the idea of maybe having a manager that will try and improve the players we already have. To me that’s a managers job. What’s the point in signing players just for the sake of it. I still thik we’ll a

  3. the point of buying new players is to improve the squad and it seems we cant afford to buy better than we have then it cant be a surprise that we go with what we have ….

  6. the policy of going with what we have rather than signing a few shirt fillers just to add to the numbers doesn't dull my enthusiasm & anticipation ...i'm quite pleased that the club have realised the folly of there transfer /contractual policies of the last 3 years and are doing summat to rectify the situation ……..come next summer all being well we'll be able to shift out those we don't want/need and hopefully start again with more knowledge of whats needed to run a successful football club than when chansiri started 3 years ago .

  9. just be happy to see us at close to full strength playing a 3-5-2. Been saying since start of last season it's the formation that suits the squad of players we have best, and I'm just pleased we've kept the best majority of the squad(the ones we wanted to keep) so far. Having a fully fit Bannan, Forestieri and possibly Hutch, Lee etc in line up will be better than a couple of new signings that may or may not work. I have a feeling the collective mentality of this squad will be right going into this season- a group of players determined to right the wrongs of last seaso

  11. Teams signing lots of player all have to settle in and gel, if we don't sign anyone we still have the players to do well and we might get off to a good start for a change

  12. To Jos he has about 8 new signings with the players returning The predictability factor isn't there because its essentially a new Manager with a new squad I couldn't care less if we sign anyone or not, if we do happy days, if we don't i think our squad is a good Championship squad

  14. Jos has been allowed to sign one player for (very) roughly £500,000 during his time here. It’s a pretty shitty hand he’s been dealt tbf, he inherited a bloated squad with injury concerns which was flirting with a relegation battle. We are now told the squad needs a cull, a squad that is already lacking key components in certain areas. If you’re looking from the outside you’d be saying that looks more like a survival battle than one geared towards a promotion push...but it’s the hope that kills you and with a fit squad we are more than capable of a mid table finish, if Jos has the

  19. Egan has cost £600,000 up front. There is no guaranteed money on top of this. The fee is £600k - although there are add ons, of which the only add ons that will absolutely come to fruition are if he makes 60 appearances for the blades, and also if he achieves promotion whilst under contract. The add ons could potentially reach £4m however the likelihood of this? Is the dude going to reach 20 caps? Are SUFC going to get promoted in the lifespan of this contract? Will he score in 10% of the games he plays (Yes, that is a part of the contract - if he scores in 10% of the ga

I suppose he’s already told us Keep paying the higher prices, and he will continue with the same level of investment For me anyway, reducing the size of the squad makes sense, for several reasons However, I don’t expect us to start selling the likes of Forestieri, Joao, Bannan etc Were that to happen, public opinion might change towards Mr C

  26. From a different perspective, since DC arrived, here is a list of players who have been replaced ... Bus, Buxton, Coke, Corry, Dielna, Kelhar, Maghoma, Maguire, Mattock, May, McCabe, Melo, Lavery, Price, Vermijl, Zayatte I would say a high percentage of signings over the past three years would be considered an improvement on most of them Is the better question IMO - answer: Too few

  30. Two. Hillsborough is way too quiet. It rarely gets noisy enough to inspire the team and intimidate the away side. Normally, it gets noisy because we are playing well, rather than causing us to play well. Some of our fans are way too obsessed about Sheffield United.

  31. He could well play premier league football regularly and even get the odd England cap. But lf Leicester would have wanted him for the present or even the immediate future they would have had him and paid the small compo fee. But them doing what they did has not saved them 10 million quid. It's probably not even a million quid they are saving. they have probably sold Hirst a pipe dream that he is going to be the next Jamie Vardy in a few years to get him there and he has took it. I will be surprised if he makes many first team apperences for Leicester. they are playing the long

  38. On paper a top six squad. In Westwood one of the best keepers outside the Prem. In Tom Lees, a CB capable of stepping up to the next level with a Burnley, Watford, Huddersfield etc without a doubt. Barry Bannan has been one of the division’s top CMs for 3 seasons. The heartbeat of any team. Neutrals and pundits pick him as MoM game in game out. Some fans criticise his lack of goals, but if he added 6/7 goals a season to his otherwise brilliance he wouldn’t be playing for Wednesday! Adam Reach as LWB, LW or LB is an unbelievable ever-present workh

  40. Last season was a huge disappointment, following two seasons where we made the playoffs. Part of of this was down to horrific injuries and perhaps part due to the burn out of the previous regime. We we now have, what appears to be a more robust manager who has spent the pre season trimming an ageing squad with the intent of injecting youth and pace. With an over reaching limitation of FFP. We’re yet to see our academy produce and we’ve yet to see any new players. For those reasons we could do anything this season. We do have good players who didn’t play

Some of you are only happy when you're running the club and our players down and you automatically jump to the worst conclusion about every tiny bit of news Give over with the doom and gloom, it's well past tedious. And for those saying they are fed up of hooper, I'll take a note and remind you when he's got 30 goals this season and we're in the premier league. Look on the bright side for a change, you might cheer up a bit

  44. There's some truth in that if any of our long term injuries come back fit and return to anywhere near their best i.e Hooper, Lee, Abdi and Fletcher. They are all (or were) excelllent players at this level and have not been involved for ages on a regular basis. Hooper and Fletcher were on fire as a partnership early last season, Lee needs no words and Abdi was signed with the best intentions and came with a good reputation. Any 2 from the 4 returning and hitting form would be a huge boost having been out for so long. The enigma that is Matias could also yet feature.
