  1. Because in today’s day and age hardly anyone says a word unless they’re moaning or complaining about things. All that ‘faux outrage’ on social media etc The club should take the relative silence as a positive.

  9. Don’t think anyone outside Sheffield would ever say Wednesday were bigger than Leeds United. Leeds United had a spell in the early 70’s of being one of the best club sides in world football. Also the potential support at Leeds puts them in the top 5 biggest clubs in England. Leeds have supporters all around the country and plenty of supporters clubs in Europe. Sky viewing figures show the audience is far bigger for Leeds matches than any other Chsmpuomship club. However Leeds United were a nothing club before 1964 Before 1964 Wednesday were a much bigger club than Leeds United for many decades. 1st Leeds United 2nd Wednesday 3rd United 4th Middlesboro (United traditionally bigger but Boro are catching up) 5th Huddersfield (mainly based on winning 3 titles in the 20’s and many seasons in the top flight). 6th Barnsley 7th Hull City 8th Bradford (good potential support but spent most of their history in the bottom 2 divisions) 9th Doncaster (traditionally slightly bigger than Rotherham) 10th Rotherham

  12. Hutchinson all day long in terms of galvanising his team and commitment etc. Sadly it's not going to happens due to lack of appearances and potential overzealous. Shame, as with the right guidance I really think that he'd thrive with the added responsibility.

  14. What would you do with Joao at the end of the season? Went 32 games scoring one goal, and that was the last minute 4th in a 4-0 drubbing Of 10 man Brentford. Its wrong to totally ignore past records, but it’s far more important to consider current performance and contribution. Whether it be new management, new boots, blossoming partnership, lucky underpants or whatever, Atdhe is on fire and deserves to be our striker in August.

  16. Can’t argue with that. Lopez was massively underrated and we should have done more to keep him.

  27. Nuhiu is the type of player that needs to be starting games every week to score goals. When he starts regularly he does score goals. He's shown that as top scorer in his 2 seasons under Gray and in the latter part of this season. True he's never going to be prolific but he's more than capable of hitting 12-15 goals in a season as a regular starter in a decent team. When you consider everything else he brings to the table I think that's an acceptable return.

  33. Apologies in advance for my lengthy post though it's been a great day Myself, 3 year old son and mother in law got there for 10.30. The Mrs joining us for the afternoon and I have to say on a personal note due to myself and son enjoying it so much it's one of my best days as fan of our club. Everyone generally entered via the Penistone rd entrance. Katrien and a couple of other staff were giving everyone a warm welcome/registration wristband before we/others could get as far as the club shop parking. We then went for the treasure hunt we were booked on for at 10:45 it was really well done. It was basically a ground tour with each stops treasure being a xxl top trump card with a gold star. In various bits of the hunt there were games/ things to see. Such as at exec box level there were 4 individual boxes with all trophies on display, room full of balloons, net a duck(won a SWFC cupcake) and last one he (son) had to pick a key to open the locked box and won a swfc clacker. (Also got points for all activities as pic). Then upto the grandstand for a blindfolded shot on goal, we had a look around the stand and my 3 year olds reaction was "wow" when he walked up from the concourse to the stand. Then headed down downstairs into both changing rooms, showed our completed treasure hunt sheet and got a pack of top trump cards. Then out down the tunnel to pitch side. Now at this point it's worth saying before the day I'd shown him pics of Ozzie and talked about the day. When at pitch side and he saw Ozzie he was the definition of delighted. Headed out to the club shop and bought son a Ozzie stuffed toy for £17 (Wouldn't have done so any other time but due to everything else above being free and his joy at seeing I couldn't say no). He then wouldn't let go of Ozzie as he went on the trampolines. He was then knackered and I popped back across the rd to the wednesdayite car park to get the buggy on the way thanked Katrien for hers and other staff efforts for the day so far (again she came across really really well) Then armed with buggy we headed to Sainsbury's for some lunch with him falling asleep in the buggy cuddling Ozzie. I headed back to the ground for the fans v staff game. All given an away kit which we were allowed to keep. All got a fair run out, I must've had 30 mins on the pitch (game was two 30 minute halves). Family watching and I took son on pitch at half time, this time he took delight in showing Ozzie his new toy and getting on the pitch. We lost the game 3-2 though the staff team were given a very debateable penalty (subsequently scored by Att) Headed to the Wednesday tap for a quick half after to top off a superb day.

  34. Most of our (Hull City ) players are playing for contracts elsewhere as sadly most will leave end of season not offered contracts by our idiot owners. And we know the only thing modern footballers play for nowadays is money. Pride in wearing the shirt has long gone out of the window. How both our fortunes have changed since the Wembley debacle where most old school City fans were hoping we'd lose and the owners would sell . Instead we won and with it were guaranteed 100 million pound notes of which we are still receiving some in the form of parachute payment next season. That's why the owners have stuck around. Brucey saw the shitstorm and left. How many managers get a team promoted and then walk out? without a job to go to? So our team atm, full of confidence, recently only 7 mins from beating wolves at their gaff, and should also have beat villa, battering qpr, burton and Ipswich and coming from 3-1 down v Norwich to win add in the motivated by money vs your team motivated by your new manager whats his name? Only one winner methinks. Why not have a look at our players cos come summer there will be loads of cut price bargains. Kissing the shirt as they score on Saturday and playing for someone else/maybe you in 2 months time. Isnt football wonderfull nowadays....

  43. That's a bit harsh on Reach, isn't it? He's run his blood to water for us this season and has only missed 65 minutes of our league campaign. I wouldn't blame him for looking a little jaded right now! As for Lopez, he was a very classy midfielder who really started to shine in the second half of his season with us. I'd have loved to have signed him permanently. Wasn't there talk at the time that the fee to sign him would have been quite high, though?

  44. Personally he has passion and pride in the team if we could have 11 of him fit we would walk the championship. But he has a bum knee and has been pretty badly managed for 2 years being force to play 3 games a week and it has finally knackered him. Under Gray he didn't play as much but barely had an injury of significance. For me i would get rid of Bullen as he adds little to the coaching staff and bring Hutch in as a first team coach, at the very least he would be giving the players a rollocking from the dug out if they were not performing. I could very easy see him in a few years making the set up to manager. We need to keep him at the club in some capacity but if that is not in he playing staff then I think he would make a very good coach and have the passion the fans seem to crave, when the current management look like they are nursing a tooth ache most of the time.
