Internationowl
With the dressing room dream scene currently being produced by Jamie Cooper, It got me thinking about who could realistically be considered as a club great, for whatever reason, and could be deemed worthy of being included in something such as this painting. It's not all about appearances or goals, but those statistics certainly add to a players worth in the history books. We've all done a favourite 11 before, and obviously those are usually heavily weighted with early 90's players, as this is a relatively recent glory period. If nothing else, in compiling this list, I have found it interesting looking into our more "ancient" history in a little more depth than I have ever really bothered doing before. Apparently Cooper's painting will include just 10 players from our history, so of course some people will be disappointed that certain players have been left out. You can't please all the people all the time! Here's a short(ish) list of past players who I would consider to be our club greats/legends/cult heroes.. In chronological order, I've tried to cover as many of the most notable servants of Wednesday as I could here from all eras, but I'm sure I will have missed a few out. Some of you may find this kind of thing boring, but some of you may see a players name that you don't recognise, tap it into google and find out a little more about them and our history, as I have, and some of you may have a different opinion to who made my list. As a result there are no records, to my knowledge, of him representing us in a professional league game. He later became chairman of the club during the formative years, so I thought him to be a worthy inclusion.

I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that was just a publicity shot and Beni was already a Wednesday player. A quick search shows that the club was far more creative and less sterotyping when we signed Carbone in doing a shot of him eating some pasta....... He did however have an illustrious career in the administration of the game. In that capacity he was a legend. He played once for England but didn't like his team-mates remarking "snobs from the south who had no use for a lawyer from Sheffield". He was a Wednesday fan despite everything but being a blades founder sort of disqualifies him as a Wednesday legend. Edit to correct a typo. Etchesketch
This article led me onto checking Wikipedia for others that may have been missed off. When you put them in appearance order interesting to see players you think played more or less than they did. Waddle only 15 goals in 147 games. hasthagotanycheese
Does one need to have been a player to be classed as a club legend? Di Canio, although not here all that long, is probably the most talented Wednesday player I have ever seen in the flesh.
