carlos-steel city derby

Don't like admitting it but Wilder is a very good manager.

He mangers in a different way but as he's a Utd fan I think he will have the Blunts fired up more than our players, doesn't mean they have the quality to beat us though.

having read the Sheffield star today,there's a 2 pager about the upcoming derbies .

got me thinking

will Carlos get the players motivated for the derbies?

Carlos is a better manager than wilder but wilder understands what a win means more than Carlos

Don't they have derbys in Portugal.

I'm sure Lee Bullen will make the team aware of what it means to the fans.

Carlos can then concentrate on lobbing all the meat on the fire.

At League Two and League One with decent budgets, yes I agree.

Let us see how he gets on in the Championship with one of the lowest budgets.

The op has a fair point. Cc didn't get us up for derbies against Rotherham or Barnsley, but we got lucky. Let's not forget the play off and last years final

6 points from Rotherham and 4 points from Barnsley last season. Has a superb record vs Huddersfield. Leeds was awful this season, and Hull don't count.

Superb record against Huddersfield but crumbled when it mattered most.

Don't think the OP deserves negging. It's a legitimate concern.

Yep why is anyone negging him? What has he said that would annoy anyone?

There's a big difference between "derbies" with the Dingles (vague rivalry) and Toytown (totally non-existent rivalry) and the Steel City Derby, especially when there hasn't been one in so long. Carlos, Bullen and leaders in the squad like Hutch will make sure we're well up for it. I'll concede our performances against Leeds this season were poor - but we beat them with ease at Hillsborough the season before.

Based on what though?

Our record against the local sides has been good under Carlos.

Rotherham = 9 from 12

Barnsley = 4 from 6

Leeds = 4 from 12

Huddersfield = 10 from 12

Leeds is disappointing, though Carlos' first season saw 4 points from 6 against Leeds.

Play-off games are a lottery and won't affect league games against United, so I'm not worried about those.

Not including Hull or Boro because they aren't derbies IMO.

Yes good track record. I don't see any reason why he can't transfer his skills to the higher level other than wishful thinking and blue tinted specs.

Tommy Docherty, circa 1976:

"If you buy third division players, you end up with a third division team".

He was talking about the Blunts.
