JJ Strikes!

Recommended Posts

Recalled to the Jamaica team at the age of 36, Jermaine Johnson scored a late penalty in a 3-1 defeat at Peru today.

With so little football going on this caught my attention, to be honest I thought his career was over.

A brilliant servant to SWFC, during some dark days he provided some pace, flair and cracking goals.

That is all.

Hope we sign someone today before we all start asking if he could do a job!

The ironic thing is, last season we were crying out for a JJ type of player out wide with real pace to speed up our attacks and get us up the pitch a bit quicker.

We had one his name was Will Buckley, playing him meant we couldn't play our usual 3 cm so his game time was limited.

As daft as it sounds with 20 mins left in ET against Huddersfield bringing JJ off the bench would have probably seen us have a good go of winning that game.

That just goes to show how poor our recruitment was last season.

Poor recruitment would have been having someone of JJ's quality coming on!

He did an excellent job for us at that time, but he's a million miles off this squad FFS!

a young JJ would be a cracking player in our current squad

WOW just WOW

if JJ had one good game (and that was a good game by his standards which weren't high ) hed be sh!~e for the next 7 ,the man could run but 95% of the time if you'd opened the gates he'd have carried on through them

A young JJ, a middle aged JJ or an old JJ wouldn't get near the training ground let alone the team

A very average player in a below average time in our history

Think your taking my point out of context.

The fact we didn't have anyone with the attributes of JJ in the squad displays the poor recruitment last season.  Therefore, even JJ would have been a better option that what we had.

We were crying out for someone who could carry the ball and stretch Huddersfield out.  Without that threat on the pitch they were quite comfortable playing a high line and pressing us, winning the ball back quite high up the pitch.  The last 20 mins both teams were physically drained, however they carried a threat due to the pace in their side (especially Quaner down our left).

We all know he was inconsistent but did always have the X-Factor (good or bad), sadly an option we missed last season imo

There is a reason he spent a good chunk of his time here as an "impact sub" in league 1.

He gets bonus points with a lot of the fans for being the only semi-entertaining player when we were absolute horse poo, but he wasn't particularly good and even at his best, never close a top 6 championship player.

Did enjoy the occasional worldy into the top corner though, especially after his previous 6 attempts had all but removed the roof cladding from those little league 1 grounds.

the netting on the ends of the North and South stands was originally not for segregation but for health and safety reasons due to JJ's first 6 shots
