NorthStandNiall
...and it doesn't involve giving away fans seats in the North! Spilt the West down the middle rather than by the tiers. The top tier currently has two stair wells which lead up on either side. The lower tier also has two separate turnstile blocks (one in the middle and one around the side towards the South Stand. All which would be required would be a few walls putting up to split the concourses and tarp / stewards over the middle seats. There'd be around 3,000 on either side. The lower tunnel would also be out of use and an area for police stewards to congregate. Away fans could enter over the south bridge to their half and home fans to our half via Leppings Lane, both exiting via the same routes. No chance of mingling after the game and those police barriers would also prove useful for a change. It would also leave the Police and SAG with virtually no excuse not to open the NWC for home fans. Too easy, sag just look for excuses to justify their existence

cross owl
If you want to find problems you will . The police and SAG would rather not have football at all unless some Welsh coppers fancy some overtime so they will be as obstructive as possible . Pity we can't stick them in Glasgow , the old firm derby would be watched by a sell out crowd of ten thousand .
NorthStandNiall
As well as requesting information on our segregation and capacity policies from sag, we also ought to request it from other clubs to see how theirs works and compare..
mogbad
If the away fans were to exit via the south stand bridge how would you segregate them from home fans exiting the south stand. You probably couldn't put the west lower tunnel out of use as it would be needed to evacuate the stadium in emergency. But I think there would be less chance of anything kicking off with the south stand. Especially for games where there is no specific rivalry. I think with a bit of work it could work. But not against teams such the permenantly uncleansed from S2 or the uneducated from up the M1.
TomtheOwl95
On the SAG point, would it be so hard for them to come out and have a Q&A with the fans to explain some of these decisions they have made over the last year?

trev
It's frankly pathetic that in 2017 we need fan segregation at all. People need to grow up and get a grip. Apart from SUFC....they can do one :)

Major problem with this is you would need to close the South bridge to home fans to ensure segregation

Great idea. I can just see it now. Several fans representing Wednesday at one side of the ground. Several representing SAG at the other. With the pitch netted off a moat around the pitch and and three thousand army representatives just in case it gets nasty. No note pads without a fire certificate. And a 19 foot steel wall outside the ground for when they leave.

UTO ,splitting the west stand is sound but the logistics are all wrong ........like as been said the away fans would be mixing with the fans exiting the south and grandstand ,seen as it is at present that those in the south -grandstand cant exit onto leppings lane there hardly likely to let away fans get access to the bridge while it's got up to 10k home fans using the same area and going in the same direction ......the police have it off to a tee at the moment the away fans come out the west stand and straight on to the coaches parked outside which wouldn't be the case with what the OP suggests .......they could I suppose hold the away fans back for 15 minutes while the area clears of home fans but I don't see em doing that .
