No Revolution....

"Not a revolution but........Four or five players"

Carlos Carvalhal

The released list has been and gone.

Four or five in says Mr Carvalhal.

Will these be squad players...but ones....who might fit the system better than the ones going. .....or do we think they'll be first team regulars?

Maybe not a revolution Carlos, but 5 new players in a a starting 11 is not far off in footballing terms.

Centre half, winger and central midfield beast seems to be the accepted areas that require strengthening amongst us Owl stalkers.

But what of the other slot/s?

Another striker? Surely not going I to a season with 8 on the books?

Unless ones for the chop?

4 or 5 players in the positions we want would see us mounting a very realistic auto promo season

I'd certainly like to think so.

Bit where do we stand with the spending and rules etc etc.

I mean, it has to be presumed that better quality replacement are going to cost fees  ...or higher wages than the men we replace.

Unless it's just squad fillers for squad fillers.

Lachman out....  Lachman MK2 in.....?

It seems DC is more than clued up on what we need to do/spend in regards to FFP.

I think we will be ok

Let's go with 4 then:

Flint

Fosu-Mensah (loan) Can play CDM and RB

Madou Barrow (loan) didn't shine at Leeds but perhaps lacked match fitness.

Tom Lawrence saw first hand the damage he can do at Hillsborough. Fast, runs at defenders with a good finish on him too.

If if we can get a 5th and it's an incredibly long shot. Loftus-Cheek (loan) would be dominant in this league. Big tall strong. Wouldn't get bullied like some of our midfield.

Grant Hanley CB

Hildeberto Pereira RWB

Ruben Loftus-Cheek CM (Loan)

The other one or two can be squad players in my view. I'd start like this:

Westwood

Lees Hutchinson Hanley

Pereira Lee Loftus-Cheek Reach

Forestieri

Hooper Rhodes

I'd say it's 5 or 6 we need.

And we needed them last summer too.

We needed a solid centre back last summer plus a midfield beast. Our full backs/wing backs need upgrading. We could do with bringing in a creative winger/attacking midfielder plus a attacker with pace.

Most of all we need to add some pace and more creativity into our play.

Solid centre back: Flint, Hanley or Manga.

Midfield beast: Jackson Irvine or similar.

2 full backs/wing backs: Pacy young wing backs (could look at top flight loanees) or lower League talent.

Winger/attacking midfielder: Jota, Lawrence or Ince.

Attacker with pace: Again look at the top flight loan market for a Tammy Abraham type attacker with pace.

As long as he signs players in the positions we need to sort .

2x pacy , direct wingers

1x midfield beast

2x quality centre halves

Get those and we are sorted , but if he just buys squad fillers , we wont improve.

I'd love him to go three at the back, to do that he needs at least one more centre back, and can utilise pudil as an option.

He still needs competition for loovens, Lees and Hutchinson should be first choice.

Pudil, hunt, palmer and fox are all liable to the chop. None of them are top standard, hunt is probably the best of the lot.

If Hutchinson moves back, we need at least one more option. Jones doesn't cut it for me, Lee and bannan need at least one more bit of competition, with abdi pushing for an attacking midfield role. Melo - probably moved on, might surprise us.

Desperate for wide men. Forestieri moves back out left in a 4-3-3, and we need a pacy knockaert like option to compete with Wallace.

Joao is already likely to be shipped out. I'd be shocked if any of forestieri, hooper, fletcher or winnall were moved on. Personally, if we can, I'd sack off the Rhodes deal - he doesn't fit in with out style, and he's a very expensive luxury. Big dave is also likely to move on, and Hirst either goes on loan or starts getting game time.

That would give us;

Westwood, Dawson and wildsmith

Hunt

Lees, Hutchinson,  loovens

Pudil

Wallace

Bannan, Lee, Abdi

Reach, forestieri

Hooper, fletcher, winnall, Hirst

Gone - palmer, fox, Jones, mcgugan, nuhiu, Rhodes, Matias, melo

In - right back, left back, centre back, right winger, CDM, striker

Tl;dr - still carrying too many players who don't compete for places

And just about the best defensive record.

By luck and Westward. Not good defending.

We had a dozen or more in last season and still lost the play off semi with almost the same team as before.

Its not who or how many we sign, its a case of if carlos will play them.

Not blaming carlis, but our recruitment and how its been utilised is a joke.

I think cc is on about 4-5 in.

But what's not been said is we will get rid of 5-7 players for next to nowt.

Just to remove them and make the squad smaller but within real quality.

I'm seeing a Brighton here and we are learning.

And i'm seeing a palindrome.WTF:
