davey_wells
Enough of all this top six playoffs target, and enough of all this top 2 aim - the mission for next season should be to win the league. Think about it - we have twice come so close to going up, already have some genuinely top quality players for this division, financial muscle to strengthen and some serious experience behind us. The 3 teams coming down from above don't scare me, the big boys of the division such as Villa, Norwich and Derby and Leeds are playing catch up with us and even whoever loses the playoff final are no better placed than we are. A double smack in the mouth will make us stronger, wiser and hopefully braver - our ambitions are not lofty enough, next year is OUR year and we should be behaving like the giants we are in aiming for the very top. Absolutely correct. We are the prefects of the Championship now. We defer to nobody.

Was the target to actually win the division this time round? No. It was to achieve promotion via whatever means including playoffs - mainly because of the very likely top 2 placing of Newcastle and Brighton. Both them have gone up. We've got a position at the top dinner table. Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Hull all have their problems with manager, ownership or playing staff. Its all about mentality. Look at the disappointment of the Newcastle players when they thought they weren't going to win the league, even though they got promotion. That's the position we are in now. Stop considering ourselves as plucky old sleeping giants Wednesday. Expectation should be huge next season rightly so, and we're now in a position to embrace it. Blueblood
I'd agree with the Op, we need to aim high now. With the squad we've got, the fact we've had 2 consecutive play off finishes and the financial muscle we have, we should be able to attract the players we need to finish the squad off to get us at least automatic promotion. Although it's not going to be easy with so many teams with parachute payments

legendaryswan
I can see villa and norwich bieng stronger in the comming season, leeds are reliant on woods, fulham will be dark horses, brentford could be ones to watch,I can see us up there again, depends on how we recruit this summer and who goes out. Wallace and Loovens arent getting any younger and are integral to how we play,we alaways get one bad injury and players go in and out of form. Youd like to think we can mount that sort of a challenge,3 or 4 decent loanees could bolster things quality wise
F. Spiksley
If we don't finish higher than first I'll be disappointed. I'm going to clap all the way to the moon next season. UTO!!
