Owl 44
Actually Buckley had a good go at it against Reading. Never thought he had it in him.
pazowl55
Waddle best I have seen for us at it. Proved you didn't have to be quick to be effective.
Blatter
Reach was brought in to do that but often as not plays full back McManaman and Buckley, loan players I know, also more than capable but seldom given the chance.
brian joicey
i think it's banned from our play, anyone caught attempting to get the wrong side of an opponent is demoted to the subs bench. hence why mcmanaman is always there

S36 OWL
A pacy winger who hugs the touchline and runs at his full back is something we badly need.

Ballmeist
Can't believe someone said Hunt. The guy runs up to the fullback then craps his pants and stops! Dont think I've seen Reach take a man on all season. It's part of our problem, we don't have wingers who get to the byline and cross the ball. Mcmanaman is the best we have for beating a man. aeroswfc
Make the defence back off and make mistakes.
Jennz
This thread got me to thinking why we don't see traditional wingers anymore, where are the Jimmy Johnstone, Willie Henderson types?
PeteG_1984
Ironically, there was a time when we had a few players who could run at defences but none of them could put a decent ball in. Now it's the opposite (well at least the former).

He hardly does it at all. He's either not confident in his pace against their fullback or he's coached not to do it.

modboy
amazes me that our tactics are all about getting the full backs forward and we possibly have two of the weakest full backs in the league in that respect. (Fox shows potential though)

He's either not confident in his pace against their fullback or he's coached not to do it. Probably a bit of both. Reach does tend to lose the ball quite a bit when he tries to take players on and Carlos seems to be telling players to be careful in possession and not take too many risks. That combination probably means he prefers to play it safe rather than try and run at people.
Dylan93
This type of player is what we needed in the summer. Not really had it consistently since Antonio and JJ. Helan use to run at people, beat them.. and then.. yeah. Mcmanaman does it doses.
