Think it's quite telling that when Scotland need a goal they haven't brought on Rhodes or Bannan

Just re-enforces how our players are not in form at the moment

That's one way of looking at it. S Fletcher and J Rhodes-Two strikers costing thousands not a shoe in for sad Scotland

Full time

Qatar U19  0-4  England U18

Goals coming in the 14th, 53rd, 62nd & 87th mins

... the law of averages would suggest Hirsty got a taste of THAT action - but we'll just have to wait 'n see

Half time

Scotland U19  0-1  Hungary U19

... obviously crying out for Fraser to come off the bench 2nd half

Confirmation now in that young Hirsty started and played 86mins of tonight's game, although he didn't get to score

Scotland U19 lost 1-2 in a game that finished 9 against 10  (honestly, what are they like?)

Fraser Preston stayed on the bench

Not REALLY trying to cling on to the dying embers of last season, or anything

But someone obviously thought playing international games in June was a good idea

... and whenever Wednesday players are asked to represent their countries, I'll always take an interest

So, over the next couple of weeks we have call-ups for Keiren Westwood, Barry Bannan, Atdhe Nuhiu - not sure about Dan Pudil - and Joe Wildsmith (not sure if there are any games to follow, though)

But first, England are out there defending the Toulon Trophy with a team made up from U18s to U20s

They got off to a winning start yesterday evening by beating Angola 1-0, George Hirst coming off the bench for the last 10mins or so

Don't know if that counts as his first U20 cap or his 10th at U18, but well done all the same

It might even be his first at U21!  It is still an U21 tournament as it always as been but it is just Englands choice to take younger players. Not sure of ages of other teams players but a match can't be an U21 cap for them and an U20 for us.  Wouldn't make sense. Last year we sent an U21 team.  Perhaps its up to the individual FA to say what cap they should receive.

The Cuba goal sure woke the crowd up

Which suggest either 1) a large travelling contigent have crossed the Atlantic to support their boys, or

                                  B) the French want England to lose
