Gary's Banister
https://footballtyper.wordpress.com/2017/02/04/its-just-my-opinion/ Great read and for me sums up the season and current situation at Sheffield Wednesday. We're currently in sixth with a real chance of pushing on, lets get behind the team and do our bit rather than slagging them off and continually dragging them down. The improvement over the last two seasons is phenomenal. Yes we've spent money, but you have to to even have a chance of competing with teams that come down from the Premier League with there parachute payments. It's nice just to be competing at the right end of a division for a change, promotion would be a bonus

Add the fact we are missing players in key areas and we do need to take abit of a steady stride to protect what we have left and you can understand why the performances are abit slower. As soon as full team back etc you watch the team will have more aggression and pace and attraction will come back just until then win ugly when can defend strongly and keep who we have fit as fit as possible. That's what did us in playoffs we went in all guns blazing from the off but ran out of steam right at that last minute this season conserve the energy then push on towards the end :D i personally think CC is playing it smartly?? The Regulator
Enjoyed that. I went last night and was frustrated like many, in spite of the win. Slightly more reflective this morning. Of the 17 games remaining 10 are at home. 3 of the next 4 are at home. Winning our home games (easier said than done I know) is key. I seem to remember a rallying cry from Carlos last season to the effect that we should encourage a player when he makes a mistake. It worked then and we need a similar change in mindset now. "How do we get there, I don't care."
HOOTIE AND THE SHIT TU
I take exception to the op's use of the term, 'slagging them off' A few posters have said we played poor last night, myself included It's hardly slagging them off Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't this a forum where people air their views A win's a win, and while 3 points are always welcome Last night was a bore fest that looked like a game between two teams fighting against relegation, not a team pushing for promotion I've not seen anyone calling for Carlos' head, many of the comments have stated he's still the right man for the job But we were poor last night Just a bloke, who used up all his luck in one go when he met his wife. Some of the content is so ridiculously abusive and over the top it is off the scale and that is even allowing for some of the sub par performances we are seeing. Our reputation for good and fair minded support is evaporating day by day, to the point that if we turn it around and all is fine again, we will just look like all the other glory boy, fair weather supporters. Sorry to say it but our 'support' and i always stress 'with exceptions' is starting to be an embarrassment.

Jim
There's definitely a difference in the atmosphere between now and this time last year. Opinions do get thrown out in the heat of the moment and generally opinions 24 hours later are not as polarised. All opinions to a certain extent are valid. My own is that we've sacrificed a bit of flair to be more solid and pragmatic in our approach. We're still in the mix for the play-offs and this season was all about showing last season wasn't a flash in the pan and we're doing that. I get the feeling we'll only appreciate what we get from the Fletcher's, Reach's, Abdi's and Jones' next season as the base they came into was stronger than the base your Bannan's, Forrestieri's, Wallaces', Hooper's etc. came into and therefore the difference they make/made was never going to be as dramatic. We're a dogged side now as we showed at times last night and that in itself is an improvement on last season. We're winning and drawing games we wouldn't have last season. Carlos got the best of out of his side last season as it went on and hopefully he'll get it right again between now and the end of this? Weshallovercome
Great read that actually, whoever wrote it(as it doesn't say) is pretty much spot on. Especially about the divided fan base, last night on here proves that, we all want the same thing, but are at odds with each other on how we should attempt to get it. We do need to pull together as one(not a wankathon), the crowd last season spurred the team on to over achieve imho.......we could do with that again. We've all got different opinions on performances and players which is what this forum is about..... Even if some appear to have football knowledge of a chimpanzee. We aren't seeming to click at all this season and it is a concern. However surely you have seen some of the ridiculous posts by some on here which is why there are threads like this one. There is a group of people on here who love to over react at every given opportunity and only appear after a loss or a poor performance. They are stopping people like yourself from discussing the poor performances like you should be able to because they take over the site. Last night was an appalling performance in so many ways apart from a 20 minute spell before half time. It summed our season up in many ways but then on the flip side we got 3 points against a team who have been improving whilst missing quite a few first team players. I don't think we will go up this season as we just haven't got going and don't look threatening enough. We are too pedestrian and frustrating to watch. That said if we do somehow pick up performances you never know, we have been in the top 6 most of the season without being at our best so if we suddenly pick up, and I am not saying we will, we could find we do it. Let's hope so!!
oldishowl
Last season was a near perfect relationship between management, players and fans. This season we could say we don't think the management and players are doing their bit and that makes it difficult for us but we need to keep behind the team. To be fair , the support last night was fantastic but we need to make sure the tripe on social networks doesn't come through on match days at home

shez owl
For me It's all this self entitlement cr@p that's endemic in society these days that social media has heightened & accelerated... " I want that.. them over there they've got it...it's not fair.. I should have it" "you're stopping me from getting what I should have, I'm going to abuse you and feel better" As everyone players manager, pundits fans have said, It was a poor game, played on a poor pitch in poor weather happens every week somewhere, but it's done, it's in the book & we won.
