Aston Villa on the brink of Jordan Rhodes signing

Buying him would really eat into our FFP allowance and it makes no sense whilst we have Hooper who is just as good at poaching goals and is a much more rounded player in all round play.  Any money not spent on him would be better directed to where we clearly need strengthening so make Barnsley an offer they can't refuse for Hourihane, get Macmanaman permanent and whilst we're at it get Maguire from Hull he's being wasted at full back. Now that would be a better way to spend 10 mill.

We don't want to buy Rhodes, we want him on a loan. FFP is irrelevant.

We can't redirect money from not signing him if we don't intend to sign him in the first place.

There's no point signing MacManaman at this point, let him play a few games and see if he can fit into our system, If he can then sign him when his loan ends. If he can't (like so many others) then don't bother.

Winnall, fox, macca and possibly connor h could be great signings and cheaper than rhodes combined.

We have fessi, hooper n winnall who are all dangerous, so would prefer to focus on connor h, possibly a loan cb/rb and getting a few out.

In 6 month time someone will say hes coming to Wednesday.

I know we look like a really small desperate club at times. How many times has he turned us down. Every time he has gone on loan or transfered we are always apparently desperate to sign him. He obviously dosent think we are good enough for him so why don't we just let him go off and warm the bench up at villa.

Maybe it's more the case that we haven't stumped up the cash or even bid for him?

When fully fit we have Forestieri, Hooper, Winnall, Fletcher to choose from, We have Joao and Dave to back that up so bringing in Rhodes makes no sense.

If rumours are true about Abdi then it might be in the best interests of all concerned if we let him go as it just isn't happening for him at Wednesday( I still think he is the best attacking midfielder we have btw) and bring in Houriane, a quality right back and another centre back and our squad would be as good as anyones in this league.

It's also the similarities between Rhodes, Hooper and Winnall, yes they're all slightly different, but all three would want to play the same role, so would need to be paired with someone different. Seems a bit too much of a luxury to me
