Good stuff thanks for the info. How do the divisions work for U23's. Can we get promoted or doe's it go by the academy classification etc?

It goes by academy classification

But it is administered by the governing body of the league the first team play in

So currently we are cat 2 under the football league but if wet got promoted we would be cat 2 under the premier league although the match programme would remain the same for 18s and 23s

Didn't notice we'd only played 16 compared to most who have played 19! I take it back (and hopefully we'll win the games in hand - won 4-0 today?)!

Ah good stuff, was that result not up yet? Good to see both academies doing well though as it's been something we have neglected for far too long. Hopefully we will continue to improve these aspects of SWFC along with the first team and general infrastructure. Onwards and Upwards owls.

Doesn't look like it - last result on was the 2-0 win against United. Sure they won 4-0 today against Birmingham (J. West scored a cracking left footed free-kick) or so it appeared on my Facebook timeline at lunch (typically can't find it now!). 100% agree with the improvement of this area of the club - it's been an embarrassment for far too long.

Seems like CC is building this club from the bottom up; old school manager style.

Well done one to everyone involved in the u18 and u23 set ups. It's about time we produced someone decent.

Of the few academy players that have made a decent number of first team appearances over the past 30 years, all seem to be defensive (Smith, Knight, Sterland, Newsome, Pressman, Weatherall, Haslam, Beevers, Palmer, Wood).

Lets jope we we can produce better in the future.

Strange question but why do any of the top northern teams have an under 23 in the northern division

like the Manchester or Liverpool teams or Newcastle, Sunderland etc....

Do they have a premier league? If so why is Hull in ours?

more curious to know

great achievements youngens it's always a good sign to be performing at the top end than the bottom end

The big clubs academies are in Premier 2 - which is league of the Category 1 clubs

Hull are in our section because they are a category 2 academy - the academy category doesn't depend on the status of the 1st team - hence championship Brighton and Reading in cat 1 - while league 2 Crewe and Colchester are in cat 2

Premiership Burnley and Bournemouth have Cat 3 academies - the same as Cheltenham and Exeter
