Dont kid yourself he will stay because its Wednesday theres no loyalty in football and Sir David Eric would have gone given the chance It's nothing to do with loyalty...it's whether young George would get experience playing for us or playing for the youth team at Everton with zero chance of getting near the team for two or three years

Sadly, the power is all in the hands of the players, or more likely, their agents.

DC is a business man at the end of the day. If Everton put forward a bid similar to that of the lad at Charlton, then Hirst would probably be off. We are in the Championship at the end of the day. RUMBELOWS91
He's 17, but if a club comes along offering silly money over a 5 year contract, then he's set up for the next 30 years of his life if he's sensible. That's a hard thing to knock back in favour of 'loyalty' - especially when he looks at his old man who was THE hottest property in the British game at one point, yet is probably still needing to bring in a wage of some kind, and he's not even 50 yet. SiJ
No doubt some of those saying "he won't go" will have been laughing about how Barnsley (in all likelihood) are having to sell one of their best players to us. There's a pecking order in football and it's usually determined by how much money you have and which league you are in. Everton are a big club, with a new, rich ambitious owner. They've also got a good track record of bringing through young players. Not saying Hirst will be off or anything like that, but all this "Everton can do one" and "DC will never sell" is very naive imho.
Nath83
Wednesday is in the lads blood. I'm sure he won't be going anywhere. What this will do is give Hirst a great hand when negotiating a new contract, plus a few more sub appearances sooner than we thought.

s110wl
one thing we know for sure, if the management deem him a highly prized asset (indications are they do!) then he won't be leaving on the cheap. Personally, having only seen him play for 25 mimutes (Reading), I have no idea what we would value him at. At a guess, £2m? Pure potential, obviously. ohgoditsjames
Just been on the Everton forum, all of them had positive things to say and many of them mentioned how good his Dad was for us, but seen several comments saying "David Hirst was brilliant to say he had no pace" "No pace" What on earth?
