Quadzilla
Because he doesn't touch the ball and probably makes some contact with the player
asteener1867
Looks to me like the City player lays it inside and then is caught....

Didn't get the ball and hacked down the player, pretty clear cut to me...
sMacLean
At rough glance at the angle of the tackle looks like the ball is played but actually clearly a foul.Conceding the goal doesn't feel so bad in retrospect.
Sonny
We are a better team than last season. It's starting to show now. I'm very pleased to be watching a team of good footballers.

owlZfan84
Typical Hutch challenge that. Free kick every day of the week.

Looks like he took it cleanly. I don't think it was a free kick. Robbed again

Keepers should be well back on their line when the opposites kick off IMO, now this new rule has come into play.

Too hard to tell off normal speed. Good decision if yr right. Edited October 20, 2016 by Beholder

At full speed it looked like a great tackle, I only put it down to slow-mo as I couldn't believe the ref got the decision so wrong Just goes to show how much I knew

owlZfan84
One thing that is certainly evident from the highlights is that Giddings is a foooooooooookin' AWFUL commentator.
Dan™
Do the new rules even allow you to score direct from the kick-off? I didn't expect so but I haven't read up on it. I would have thought another player needs to touch it first, like from a throw-in or indirect free kick.
Dan™
Also, it didn't look like a free kick to me on first watching. Not because I thought Hutch won the ball, I always thought he was miles away from it, but because the Cardiff player went over by his own volition rather than a result of the contact. It doesn't even look like there was any contact, certainly not before he was already on his way down. I'm not saying he dived, the way he laid off the ball while sprinting put him off-balance more than anything, but even watching it back at 25% speed there's not enough in that challenge for me and it's not a foul I would have given. Greeny79
what and why have they changed the Kick off rules? some nice play from us, flowing, passing, movement,,,very promising
Rogerwyldesmullet
Dive in - get punished. Eg Bannan last year, Hutch every other week. Simples. As for highlights - good to see an Owls team so comfortable in possession - has only happened about twice in my lifetime. Don't get me wrong. I loved Bilko and Big Jack, but their teams were more muscle than subtle.
