We're facing possibly our toughest game of the season today, and our best player has refused to play. At the end of the season, if we miss out on promotion by a couple of points after losing today (hopefully not, just pointing out a possible scenario), he, and we, will know he could have given more for our cause. Unless there's a complete retraction of what he's said and by that I mean he has to do it now rather than the eve of the close of the window then good riddance.
