A new scheme has just been introduced at the newsagents i'm working in at the moment.

It is targetted at those who have newspapers delivered- the lottery works sort of like the idea of a 100 club. They can add a certain amount (the highest we've had at our newsagents is £8) to their newspaper bill per week, and in return receive a lottery number for every £1 they have spent.

The newsagents then take a cut (it is 7.5% for us) and the rest is passed on to the club.

It's easy to operate- Letters are sent out to everybody who has newspapers and/or magazines delivered with a cut-off slip which they can return to their newsagents.

A rep from the club comes round once a week to collect the relevant cash and paperwork. The winner of the daily/weekly prize is contacted directly by the club.

We're taking about £75 a week on it in just our store alone (we only have about 75 customers.) From speaking to the rep they have already taken £1000's of orders.

Roll it out across Sheffield and there is money to be made for minimal output.
