Our under 18's played their 3rd pre eason fixture yesterday in a friendly match against Chesterfield U18's at Chesterfields training ground. We started brightly having some good possession, and a couple of long distance efforts (one stuck the bar by Poulton) until finally we took a well deserved lead through Kendall. Thats were the good points end. Chesterfield, who I found out were playing their first game of pre-season, then battled their way back into the game and eventually took control and went on to win 4-1. Our best players were Haywood (LB) and Eckhart (DM). I had a chat to a Chesterfield fan who told me that 2 of the lads who scored for Chesterfield were released by Sheff Weds last year at U16 (Will (LB) & Shaq(CF)) and the other lads who scored were both Wednesday fans. Chesterfields 2 best players Needham a very commanding centre half who is quick and good on the ball and Edridge a very attacking right back who started in centre midfield but was moved back and consistantly got forward, outstripping our midfield and defence to deliver quality into the box, also have Sheffield Wednesday connections. Needham is an owl and Edridge was at our academy from U14's to U16's. HOPEFULLY BETTER IS TO COME FROM OUR LADS!!!!

pre season result so can't read too much into it, but doesn't bode well.

Very good and true report Academyowl.I to was there. Wednesday did well but were weakend after they used their substituttes. Chesterfield however have taken on some good U16s and looked stronger than the Owls from that point. The two lads released by Wednesday last year and the second year scholar all had a point to prove ,which they did and as ever it was always going to be old boys that score against you. The left back was a lad called Dicko not Will.who scored the goal.

keep up with the good reports if you go to any of the other pre season friendlies!!!!
