2.5m is good. Not sure he is Championship material, as his work rate is not that good. You could buy 2 excellent players for 1.25m each imo.

This early - paper speculation.

Jewell won't even know if he will be there come season end.

Daft IMO.

Not a chance,if we get promoted he will be worth far more than that.

Should we stop down I'd be thinking 3.5m at least.

Clubs have to remember, our days of selling people on the cheap are over.

His work rate not that good?

Really?

He works just has hard as most other strikers. Again, yesterday a fine example winning a free kick which we scored from when he chased a ball down. Exactly has he did against Oldham when Llera scored.

What do some people expect?

Doubt Ipswich could afford £2.5 for him. But sales of the People round Ipswich need a boost.

We draw one tricky away match and suddenly the Sunday papers are linking our players with Championship clubs.

If we get promotion this season (and there's still a very good chance of that happening) then what could Ipswich offer Madine that we couldn't?

IMO we should be building our team around players like Madine. Wouldn't sell him for 2.5, he's worth a fair bit more than that I reckon if you look at what some other players go for who aren't half as good

No good selling him if MM isn't going to invest it in the team,( remember he wouldn't part with 350k for lefondre, which WOULD have got us promoted) keep him every time IMHO

We will finish above Ipswich next year. Madine is a good player but I feel he is a danger to himself for his alleged off field activities, it may be good for us and him to get a change of scenery. But only at the right price

Rhodes won't go for anything near 6m.Huddersfield dropped a major Bo**ock with him.should have let him go when the big money was on the table, instead there plan has backfired big time.

He will go to a top end prem team for a couple of million,3 tops.

No one will pay 6m for someone with 12 months left on a contract.

Madine is going to be hot property in the summer for sure.

21 year old, tall, scoring goals, MASSIVE potential.

But anything over 2 million would be great business as i'm still not convinced he is guna be top class.

Every player has his price. As a club we are renowned for not selling players at the right time and them then subsequently dropping off.

I love Madine, and he has the potential to go a long way. But if he doesn't sort his head out, he won't get much higher than he is now, and that's the biggest worry for me.

If we could sell him for a fee that allowed us to substantially improve a few areas of the squad (including a new striker) then it would be good footballing business to do the deal. Maybe £2.5m won't be quite enough, but probably not far off with add-ons.

It depends whether Milan is willing to spend regardless of whether we sell. What I mean is, do we need to raise cash through player sales?

I think Madine is maturing as a player as the weeks go by and my personal opinion would be that I would like more than that if we did sell him.

Top marks for applying simple, sensible logic. And the bit of highlighted is the real key, for all clubs, at all levels, at all times and is often lost in the prejudice and dreams of the football supporter.

In Madine's case, given the potential for him to make it at a higher level, a sell-on clause would have to be a must.

I'd like to think we could avoid the selling club tag especially where a player like Madine is concerned.

He will only get better, and if we show enough faith in him, we'll have a right player on our hands who will justify the decision to hold on to him. He'll be worth far in excess of a paltry 2.5 million in a few seasons' time.

Hang around Gary and make yourself a Hillsborough legend.

Correct - strategic selling is as important as any tactic in football

It's allowed Charlton on a competitive budget like ours to romp home in this division

maybe that could have been Hudds if they'd cashed in on Rhodes?
