Daft IMO.

Should we stop down I'd be thinking 3.5m at least.
Clubs have to remember, our days of selling people on the cheap are over.

2.5m is good. Not sure he is Championship material, as his work rate is not that good.
His work rate not that good?
Really?
He works just has hard as most other strikers. Again, yesterday a fine example winning a free kick which we scored from when he chased a ball down. Exactly has he did against Oldham when Llera scored.
What do some people expect?

2.5m is good. Not sure he is Championship material, as his work rate is not that good. You could buy 2 excellent players for 1.25m each imo.
Get to games and stop judging from afar.

If we get promotion this season (and there's still a very good chance of that happening) then what could Ipswich offer Madine that we couldn't?

He will go to a top end prem team for a couple of million,3 tops.
No one will pay 6m for someone with 12 months left on a contract.

21 year old, tall, scoring goals, MASSIVE potential.
But anything over 2 million would be great business as i'm still not convinced he is guna be top class.

I love Madine, and he has the potential to go a long way. But if he doesn't sort his head out, he won't get much higher than he is now, and that's the biggest worry for me.
If we could sell him for a fee that allowed us to substantially improve a few areas of the squad (including a new striker) then it would be good footballing business to do the deal. Maybe £2.5m won't be quite enough, but probably not far off with add-ons.

you itk mate ....If we are in this divison next season Madine will not be a Wednesday player. FACT.

But £2.5M would be too much to turn down - we could buy an entirely new promotion winning team with that!

wether he's worth that sort of money i dont know but i do know that selling one of your best players isnt a recipe for success especially when you arnt desperate for the money .
Huddersfield kept their best player
Charlton sold theirs

No, i think Madine will be wanting to push on next season and there will be plenty of clubs sniffing around him, also probably suit us financially.

I think Madine is maturing as a player as the weeks go by and my personal opinion would be that I would like more than that if we did sell him.

I think he has a bit of everything, and those two performances on SKY will have put him firmly on the radar if he wasnt already.

Top marks for applying simple, sensible logic. And the bit of highlighted is the real key, for all clubs, at all levels, at all times and is often lost in the prejudice and dreams of the football supporter.Every player has his price. As a club we are renowned for not selling players at the right time and them then subsequently dropping off.

In Madine's case, given the potential for him to make it at a higher level, a sell-on clause would have to be a must.

He will only get better, and if we show enough faith in him, we'll have a right player on our hands who will justify the decision to hold on to him. He'll be worth far in excess of a paltry 2.5 million in a few seasons' time.
Hang around Gary and make yourself a Hillsborough legend.

Before you say he isn't even worth that how has that stopped clubs in the past?
It's our turn to be on the end of a good deal.

Correct - strategic selling is as important as any tactic in football
It's allowed Charlton on a competitive budget like ours to romp home in this division
maybe that could have been Hudds if they'd cashed in on Rhodes?
