  1. He's now referencing his podcast in almost every one of his tweets. Like I said earlier in the thread - he's literally doing this to drum up publicity for his podcast, and probably so he can get a slot on GB News or Talk TV. It's not accidental or compulsive. He knows exactly what he's doing. The outrage is exactly what he wants. He's just trolling people and it's working - as evidenced in this thread. And he'll be rubbing his hands together every time anyone calls him out for whatever he's posting.
  2. Again though - a reminder that this is Joey Barton's Laurence Fox on Question Time moment. I assume he's done some sort of deal with the same mob that fund Fox, that black priest, and Le Tissier, and realised he's gonna make more dough catering to the right than he is in football. He's just feathering his nest. He possibly believes what he's saying, but I doubt anywherr near to the degree he's marketing it on Twitter.
  3. I'm with you - I just cannot bring myself to get worked up about female pundits in men's football. I couldn't give a sh*t about punditry in general. I watch football cos I like football, not cos of what someone has to tell me about it. It's a non-event for me. A total irrelevance. But - I do recognise that female pundits are there solely to tick a box, and that's Barton's point (as clumsy and irrelevant as it is). Like I said - in my opinion there's a debate to be had on the merits of tokenism, but to argue that tokenism doesn't exist is just silly business.
  4. He's using Alan Smith as a yardstick for good punditry now This is absolutely hilarious - everyone's getting stuck in
  5. They all tick the 'I'm a sh*t pundit' box. But they all played football at the highest level, and Sky deem them good enough pundits that they justify their spots. Every female pundit is there to tick a box though. You can agree with tokenism if you want, and think that it's justified and that it creates a fairer and more level playing field - totally fair. But let's not pretend for a second it doesn't exist, and that female pundits are being chosen on merit. That's just laughable.
  6. You're mad if you don't see what he's doing here. He's just going down the Laurence Fox road and has obviously made a decision that he'll make more money doing this than working in football. It couldn't be clearer. And it absolutely is the marketing zinger I think it is. Everyone's gone absolutely mental about it. Perfect for him. He's literally goading people with every Tweet he writes and keeps dropping in mentions of his podcaat - this hasn't just come out of nowhere. Expect him to be a regular on GB News within a month and switch his attentions to Megan Markle and vaccinations.
  7. Surely everyone understands that he's solely doing this to drum up business for his podcast though, yeah? These aren't just 'random and controversial Joey Barton musings' that have come out of nowhere. He even mentions it in every other Tweet ffs. Every person that talks about this is just playing into his hands and drumming up business for him. He's engineered it all to perfection - everyone's bitten in a massive way, and his podcast is gonna get 100 x the listens than it would've done otherwise.
  8. Loved El Tel - sad news. Without fail, any ex players who played under him always say he was one of the best coaches they'd played under, and that he was a top bloke.
  9. I think basically he was seen as a bit of a dodgy geezer so he was binned off.
  10. World cup 2010 squad had Ashley Cole, David James (not saying he was world class but he was brtter than Pickford), Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, King, Carragher, Rooney, Joe Cole, Carrick. Any of them would get into this team purely on talent alone.
  11. That's quite literally my point. We had some of the most talented players in the world who couldn't even get past quarter finals. We've now got an inferior squad of players talent wise who have been turned into an excellent team because of Southgate's management. I'm not having a dig at these players - they're far and away the most likeable group we've had in years.
  12. Which squads from the 90's and 00's were weaker than this lot, player for player?
  13. Of course we've got talented players. Do you disagree that it's our least talented squad of players since the early 90's? What squad is if not? I'm not having Foden as world class either. Not a chance. He might be one day.
