  1. Hi All As the title says 2 Reading tickets needed. Much appreciated.
  2. 8 million is a ridiculous figure for the player to be fair. His career has not progressed the way we all thought it would but seriously can you make a case for him being our out and out front man I can not. An offer of 6 million pounds I would listen. I am convinced he will forever be the frustrating player we have seen since he arrived here.
  3. Would like Paul Cook like many have said, however I just can not see it. Zola seems so far out of the wilderness, living in Birmingham and seeing the absolute shower he helped turn Birmingham city into I would be very fearful with him here. I remember the game at Hillsborough 3-0 Rhodes first home game and they were truly awful that evening and for much of his spell in charge they were a poor side. Took Redknap to keep them up. As was shown last season we are not a side who can play naturally out from defence and that is very much what he tried to do there so is a massive no from me. Jakanovic was one of my choices pre Bruce and had he not just taken a job on the other side of the planet would have been the obvious choice IMO. Currently however I am like everyone else just blindly flailing around in the dark. Anyway on to Northampton tonight, see you down there.
  4. Thats not the way Wednesday do business....new manager and kit to be released 2nd game of the season at home to Barnsley.
  5. 3 in 22 is a stretch in the use of the word successful, situation was handled poorly at the time of his exit and I don't think it needed Hirst senior chucking toys out the pram but lets be honest here out of all the other madness in the year he left this is very low down on the pecking order.
  6. Irrespective of the result today and your views on it on any given game day if you so wish by all means chant, by all means boo, voice your opinion in anyway shape or form you want inside the stand. Have a discussion with the person who has a different view point to you, argue the throw of a game until you are blue i the face. It's what many go to football for it seems. All of this for many is part and parcel of a saturday afternoon at the football. However waiting outside the players enterance to chase your chairman down do me and everyone else a favour. Some old bloke follows him around when DC is clearly tryna get away from him, One lad has his mrs drag him away , another bloke just stands there screaming JOS OUT!!! And whats tha gunna do bowt it!!! Emotions run high I get it but just stop and think what they are actually doing and how you would be reacting if someone was acting as they were. Those saying its Portsmouth 2.0 and he doesnt care the way me or you care. Display the evidence in both and I will beleive you, spent too much money yes activley recognises the problem and tries to sort it yep done that. Some say its his fault for spending that money, i didnt hear any of us moaning at the time. On the point of caring as I heard at the game "means nowt to him this" (usually followed by megson would have this lot at it), may I guide you to the statement he released last year at like 3 am in the depth of the Carlos cloud. Now we have all and many of us now are posting drunken wild ramblings about how much we care. If that isnt passion i dont know what is!!! Please let me state I am not a happy clapper of the chairman has he made mistakes yes, baffling signings, abstract decision at board level but he has also brought us seasons of relative success to where we have been for the 20 odd previously. Yes it may be bad at the moment, weather the storm i still remeber Swindon 2-1 Wednesday in the pouring down rain December in an open away end watching Giles coke replace Chris sedwick. This is and forever will be better than that was.
  7. Signed a new contract with us in September for a 3 year extension, our best player who is the most integral to any of our ideas. Manger loves him, chairman loves him, fans love him, individually having arguably his best season for us so far. I am biased as livng in Birmingham most Villa fans I know are insufferable and are adamant they are just far to good for this division, all the above being said we should be taking this lot to the damn cleaners what are we short of to comply with with FFP 12 million according to Wednesday week and Owls Americast (better idea than I have) so let's start there then shall we. Would rather sell Reach before Bannan personally but if this bid does come in you have to listen with our current financial situation still unsure.
  8. For what it is worth before starting I think Dawson has probably done as well as can be expected of a Young inexperienced goalkeeper thrust behind an ever changing back 4/5. Pros and cons to his game and will always have the ability at a younger age to get better and adapt. Now on to business, I think something clearly has gone on behind closed doors in terms of things being said, a contract dispute, disagreement, owed money for appearances all plausible. Whatever it is something with this situation has gone on and we will probably never get to the bottom of it. For the moment however lets go off the info we as fans have being told which is nothing other that all 3 keepers are available and injury free, therefor all are eligible for selection. At this moment in time would the team benefit from Dawson being taken out of the firing line and Westwood or Wildsmith being brought in IMO yes, would it be better for Cameron Dawson in the long run I would argue yes. It takes him out of the spotlight of the fans and puts the pressure firmly back on Westwood as an experienced pro or Wildsmith gets another opportunity. It sends a message to Dawson that he still has things to work on if he is to be the ultimate number 1 here when Westwood leaves. There are ways to make this change and say you are protecting the player so in terms of man management it is possible to get out of it without fully admitting he has backtracked. Now you can swap Dawson back in at a later date but for now it may be worth listening to the masses as some organisation and chat between keeper and back 4 would not go amiss. At this point in time we are still without a clean sheet, 6th place at the international break or not that WILL kill any team. At present we have to score minimum two goals to win ANY game with 3 forwards available for selection. In short it is improbable at best so you have to sort the back 5 (including keeper) out before looking forward. Let us not forget Westwood has his flaws also, his distribution with the ball to feet is almost non existent if it is not going long, this does not allow Jos to play the way he wants which is clearly a big factor. Therefor you would have to play a longer game IE more back to front, the question you now ask is do we have the players to play in this manner in the current formation? A more direct approach bypasses the build up play from back to front that we have seen Jos attempt since the start of the season and appears to be his philosophy. Ironically IMO our best performance of the season Villa away we almost played on the counter and worked from a solid base, and again IMO we could comfortably do this as having a more direct approach and playing "on the counter" as your chances appear in the transition rather than build up, which would suit our limited attacking options. Could Wildsmith be the answer, he did well coming into the team last year and performed admirably but again is undoubtedly out of the team because of his apparent inability to distribute the ball effectively with his feet. Then it is down to a matter of a opinion on who you would prefer and at this point in time, an experienced professional who knows his "captain" in front of him and the spine of the team would be my personal preference. All of this is fairly irrelevant as I am convinced we will never see Westwood again a Wednesday shirt and sadly Dawson will continue to be cannon fodder to the online armies in the short term until we pick up a few more results.
  9. What did Marcus Maddison go to Leicester for 25 mill in the summer? Reach at the moment is as effective for us as Maddison was for Norwich last season and the January window is notoriously over valued, add to this Wolves are absolutely caked up. Factor in Reach being 25 years of Age and English, transfer market "logic" dictates if this was a player playing for any other club I would genuinely be suggesting 15 mill or north to sell in January. He is a player who under Jos has become pivotal to any form of success for us at the moment If we sell him mid season with no obvious replacement lined up or us being able to afford one straight away due to FFP or whatever it is called now it would take a bid of massive proportion for us to consider selling as interest in him will still be there in the summer should we need to sell.
  10. How honestly can people make the argument the manager is not partially or majority to blame for that this evening? It is the first time I have said it but those dropped points lay firmly at his feet. Player mistakes is something you have to live with, the manager should be smart enough to register the team we are playing is the divisions top scorers they score most of the goals in the 2nd half and were always going to finish the game strong, had he done his scouting on WBA over the course of the season so far. Essentially it is saving the team from themselves The Onomah sub is criminal for me. To be clear I am not blaming CK he is a young lad just trying to get some minutes in an opportunity he maybe didn't expect. A manager should be able to read the game in terms of knowing his opposition, he can give Kirkby a run out for maybe the last 3 mins when the threat has gone. The first goal comes from the 2 CM'S clearing out and chasing all over and out of position it is JP who sticks it in at the back stick in the wing back position. This had not happened all game with the initial partnership, you can see in the build up before the ball goes wide we are all over. Reach throwing his arms up asking where CM'S are, Hector having to come out and engage in the CM position. 2nd goal CK goes steaming forwards trying to make an impact, a more experienced player recognises the scoreline and the time on the clock and hangs back. Yes JP should bring him down, Yes Dawson should save it, but again the CM area of the pitch is cleared out allowing Barnes to get up to speed and get motoring. You can not blame players individual mistakes solely for that result on 85 mins before the sub the game was sown up. A shame because before the game as I say I would have been really happy with a point, but that is 2 dropped. Ah well on to Bristol Saturday see you all there.
  11. DC says he wants to be honest and open yet clearly has not been or to put it another way he omitts certain truths. He rants about how poor the support has been but then says the team needs the fans now more than ever. I agree with him turning up in numbers is not enough and at times we should be more vocal, but surely he knows enough about the wednesday fan base now to realise that we are not exactly a bunch of shrinking violets and many will call it how they see it (rightly or wrongly i may add) but Sheffield to me has always been a tough city with people who speak their mind. If as supporters we are told to back "the direction of the club" pay a premium to watch and help support the club financially amd we have to as he can do no more its now on us fine, I just think many would like to know what they are paying for is all. If it was marketed as pay to watch the football and dont ask questions fine but it has never been that in his time here and he is open to questions, so people are using that sense of entitlement to do so. Do i think our fan base is too involved in the running of our club YES and there are many ways to skin a cat so to speak. It is however the chairman who asked and allows for it so we will always try to take a mile as for us fans it is emotional not rational. I do think an honest discussion about how we are going to get out of a widly discussed 12 million pound hole for starters would be a great opening on Friday. Transparency at a football club is not a bad thing but sadly for DC you have to be "all in" with it not pick and choose if he would like an easier ride than what he's having at the minute amongst a section of our fan base. For the record i think DC has transformed many aspects of this club for the better and under his ownership ive seen us play some sparkling football and have some fantastic players. I have also actually enjoyed many transfer windows wondering who we are going to sign and how they are going to strengthen us. (With hidnsight this is hillarious but at the time it was fun) However (and it isnt all about the money) i now have to select the games i come up to attend as a matchday sets me back around 80-100 pounds rather than the 50-60 it used to, I havent brought a shirt since the price went up to plus 50 quid and that tradition died 3 seasons ago something that was lifelong in our fanily since my dad and grandad took me to my first game. Apart from 1 season arguably 2 seasons if we are looking at league position the odd game here and there over the last 18 months in two years ive not actually enjoyed watching much of the football on offer. I enjoy results but not really the way we play. This is obviously down to the headcoach but DC selects him.
  12. Thorniley has looked good on every outting I have seen of his. Wolves away last year he was brilliant. Preston put himself about yesterday but spent much of his 45 mins chasing shadows. Palmer over Baker. Im sorry but this is absoloutle nonsense. If we are going to tread water this year I would rather do so whilst letting a 21 year old right back get 20-30 games under his belt learnning the league and testing himself against the best this division has to offer. I do not mind rotation but Baker has to be the preffered choice as by the end of the season the club will know wether he is good enough or not, IMO we know Palmer is not so lets give the 21 year old kid more than 5 games with a different back 4/5 every game before making a judgement.
