  1. I love the respect for history, to see something like this is special considering tradition often gets ignored in the modern game. It could be a lot lot worse (look at Oldham's badge), but the new one needs some updating or at least tweaking. The Latin motto is really not relevant nowadays and the formation year really needs to be on there. Mixing the old and the modern would look better, maybe something like this:
  2. We can talk forever about whether or not it was a bad decision to sack Gray, but the fact is this will utterly hinge on who is coming in next.
  3. As Wednesday fans we have a big complex about 'deserving', by rights, to be in the Premier League. Part of this is not our fault; we are seemingly constantly being reminded of this by pundits, managers, the media and pretty much every new player when he gives his first interview for the club. This has a role in creating a fanbase that craves the (almost impossible) instant success of getting to the premier league, thus becoming impatient when things go even slightly wrong - even aggressive at players and managers, which I think we have seen too much of in the past few weeks, all this negativity. Problem is, half of this league thinks exactly the same as us; "we deserve to be in the prem" is the fans motto for the likes of derby, forest and Leicester. Lets not be negative and bitter, lets not be weighed down by our own proud history. Just clap, cheer, encourage your team at Hillsborough because honestly, football fans really do have a huge and massively underestimated role in creating a positive atmosphere around a club, from the stands, to the pitch, to the players heads, around the corridors of Hillsborough, to the surrounding media. Lets shake off this complex of frustration and be positive!
  4. The right manager at the right time. 2004/2005 - Took Preston to brink of Premier League in his first season (lost in final) 2005/2006 - Preston in play offs again the year after 2006/2007 - Finished 3rd with Derby, winning playoffs and promotion to Premier League 2008/2009 - Playoffs with Forest including an 18 match unbeaten run I don't understand the hostility towards him potentially being our new manager. Yes, he has a reputation for being unlikable, bitter, mouthy and arrogant but since when do these things prevent you from being a good football manager? Football is littered with managers like this; Di Canio, Ferguson, Megson, Pulis, Moyes and of course the master of the lot, Brian Clough. Not even the players have to like their manager, just the sheer fear of failing him can drive the players on (exactly what Di Canio is doing at Swindon). Above all, good managers need respect and clear leadership, not likeability. A no-nonsense, straight up, ambitious and fiercely driven manager with clear experience of handling big clubs; who could walk in and shake the whole squad up and at the very least get some fight back into them, something we clearly have completely lost. He's a motivator, the medicine for Jones' softly softly, "its not our fault we're in the bottom 3" denial. It would be similar to when Megson took over from Irvine in getting the fight back in the squad. This is the right manager and the right time. Frankly, I'd be gutted if it was anyone else.
  5. If lee doesn't start i think i'll cry. I mean, no matter how bad he's been in training, how can he play any worse than the other RBs have been doing?
  6. Sheffield Wednesday can confirm the appointment of Dean Ramsdale as the club’s new academy manager. The North West product brings a wealth of experience to Middlewood Road with a 20-year background in football. Ramsdale began his career with Burnley, where his role incorporated that of Head of the Under-9s – Under-11s Centre of Excellence and assistant coach to the Under-18s. He also managed the Clarets’ Football in the Community Programme. Dean then moved across the Pennines to Preston North End to take up the role of Director of Youth Development, where he produced and oversaw the club’s coaching philosophy and structure from the Under-9s – Under-18s before completing the EPPP Audit Tool for PNE. A raft of academy youngsters graduated through to senior involvement at Deepdale under Ramsdale’s guidance – including current Owls winger Danny Mayor. He also served as Preston’s assistant manager in the Championship alongside David Unsworth on a caretaker basis. Ramsdale moved to Morecambe as Lead Coach in line with the EPPP and oversaw the Under-18s, Under-21s and 9s – 16s in the club’s Development Centre before being lured to Hillsborough. He said: “This is a great opportunity for me at a massive club that is moving forward. I want to build on the foundations already in place at the academy and I can’t wait to get started. “I’m really looking forward to working with the staff and, of course, Dave Jones and the management team. “I am here to help the academy move forward and develop the young players the best I possibly can.” Owls boss Dave Jones added: “Dean is a very experienced and committed coach who will prove a key addition to our aims at Sheffield Wednesday. “He has produced some really good young footballers and everyone is looking forward to working with him.”
  7. IMO, all you need in this league is a team that will keep going right to the final whistle, organisation and a bit of pace on the wing and in attack. No passing football, no big name signings just to please the fans, just do the basics well and you be out of it. I reckon Megson is the master at this, looking at his past teams. And the signings he has made so far for me are all according to this plan, players who he trusts and he knows they trust him.
  8. Di Canio Turns Down New Manager's Role "Paolo Di Canio has turned down the chance to manage in England- at an unnamed League One club. The former Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham ace, 42, is keen to get into management after completing his coaching badges. He said: " I don't like to say the name of the club. It was a good situation for me and it made me feel positive, but I prefer to wait"."
  9. An opinion is an opinion but name one REALISTIC alternative. In case you haven't noticed, were in LEAGUE 1. Get real.
  10. Keegan being a dreamer, Megson being a realist.
