  1. My first ever home shirt. Got it for my 13th birthday back in '94. Still my favourite.
  2. Blasphemy on here maybe but I wonder if we'd actually sold Hirst when Man Utd wanted him for 4 million. Invest in an up and coming young striker like Cole or Collymore or even just let Warhurst carry on up front. Give Waddle a coaching role, let him eventually look after Richie Humphreys, try and tempt a young dynamic midfielder like Barmby or Joe Parkinson... I know that 92-93 team had to be phased out but it all seemed to happen so quickly.
  3. Le Tissier's 90s showcase of goals and subsequent vertical take-off from reality.
  4. That's great that she's fully recovered. Femoral breaks are incredibly rare as your femur is basically the same strength as a concrete post. It's actually incredible what they can do now in surgery, particularly with ligaments and tendons. It's a crying shame to think of all the great players of years passed who's careers were cut short or comprised simply because the medical world wasn't at the place it is now. That centre forward we had thirty years ago, for example...
  5. Oh its perfectly possible, I'm just fortunate enough to never have seen it. I've only ever seen two open fractures in all my time in theatre, one someone who got kicked by a horse and the other was a very serious car accident. For it to happen on a football pitch is appalling. I remember listening to someone on Praise or Grumble about twenty five years ago asking if anyone knew how he was doing and calling Bennett a thug over and over again. Didn't something similar happen to Gordon Watson when he was at Bradford?
  6. Bloody hell. I've worked in orthopaedic surgery for 15 years and I've never seen a leg broken in seven places. Poor sod.
  7. I am just a bit too young to have seen Ian Knight play but obviously I know what happened to him. Would he have gone on to play for England like so many said?
  8. Completely potty game on sky in the mid 90s where we won 4-3 with some of the worst top flight defending of all time. Think Dublin got a hat trick for them and our winner was the first time we'd been ahead in the match.
  9. He had a bit of a purple patch a couple of years later when he linked up with Marc Degryse really well but it only lasted a couple of months. He was incredible when we put six on Leeds.
  10. https://theathletic.com/3420975/2022/07/15/best-premier-league-performances-no-19-chris-waddle-for-sheff-wed-v-west-ham?source=user-shared-article This is behind a paywall but well worth a subscription just for this series. Shows how it's gone down in folklore considering we haven't played in the top flight for 23 years.
  11. Just the highlights from the season review video. A thing of beauty nonetheless.
  12. Thinking about it actually who was the last Wednesday player to get capped for England? Was it Hinchcliffe?
  13. Am I right in thinking today marks thirty years since The Waddle Game? What a performance that was. David Burrows still bursts into tears from time to time...
