  1. I disagree. It doesn’t make “most sense”. Limiting capacity on North may well be due to concourse space issues, but the available space is uniform along the entire length of the stand. So limiting capacity at one end only alleviates congestion at that end. If concourse capacity was the only (or main) criterion then it would “make most sense” for one (or more) entire row of seats from Kop to Lep left unsold. Leaving a block unsold at the LL end suggests that increase segregation plays as important a part as to “alleviate congestion”.
  2. But we are investing in young talent. Maybe not as much as we need to, but much more so than for many a year. The facilities might be lacking investment, but we are upping the spend on players and coaches. We now target premier league academy rejects rather than whatever strategy we had before. U21s train with the first team. They see a path to the first team. Take away the politics and personalities and see the different treatment of Cadermateri and Hirst. The academy is (close to) delivering better results because we’re focusing (spending) on the players.
  3. I agree with @torryowl. If you’re doing something for charity, for the community, stay classy and just do it. Any PR should naturally follow. It would have been obvious to the club that the ticket donations would become public knowledge, as it has here. So any half decent local journalist ought to be able to run a story, not just on the ticket donations but on the 5000 milestone too. And thereby the good PR is generated. Yet @latemodelchild also has a point. We need all the good publicity we can get. There’s scant positivity in the local press, so perhaps it needs to be self generated. But the problem with positive story being publicised by the club is that in the current climate many fans will seek to turn it into a negative. ”He’s only doing it to deflect attention from the protects” ”They could donate 1000’s of tickets most games if the club wanted to.” ”Tickets are so expensive they have to give 15% of them away” etc, etc.
  4. I prefer Sham 69. “Come on come on Hurry up Danny come on Come on come on Hurry up Danny come on We're going to the Prem* We're going to the Prem” *If you prefer, League 1.
  5. As you like numbers, would you like to review the top two lines?
  6. All goal keepers should wear an Ozzie Owl style mascot kit. All penalty takers should do the head down, twelve times round the stick routine before taking the pen. Goals should be put on tracks and randomly move upto 10 foot sideways in either direction throughout the match. Corners should be like in hockey. Defending team: defenders on the goal line, forwards on half way line. Attacking team: attackers on the edge of the penalty area. Players must pay to refund fans that attend to see their team lose by five or more goals. Players scoring an own goal should be made to wear a clown’s outfit for the next five minutes.
  7. I believe it is 5pm of the day before the match.
  8. Expected this to be about the Christmas party.
  9. I think Röhl’s is here for at least a full season. If we go down, he’ll want to balance the relegation on his CV with a promotion. For all his “success” so far, if we go down, he’s achieved nothing other than turning around a Xisco team. Any half decent manager would have improved us. There won’t be a stream of “big” clubs tempting him with big money. If we stay up, he’ll see the opportunity to really build a foundation for his managerial career. He’ll get Poveda and Beadle signed up, maybe Ugbo. A summer getting rid of the dross, bringing in more of his type of player, and a preseason. Stay up, I’m optimistic for next season. Do well next season, Röhl’s might even stay longer. Despite DC, I think he enjoys it here. But I think he’ll only stay if he sees us progressing. That said, I think we’ve got Röhl’s replacement already. Chris Powell will take over if/when Röhl’s leaves.
  10. Im guessing that you don’t have loads of money to throw around in “compensation” should you find yourself in the same position as Schulz? I think it’s abhorrent that people with money can use it to manoeuvre their way through the legal system, in Germany or here, but that’s the system. I don’t blame anyone for buying their way out of a difficult situation. I blame the system that allows it. The case, as I see it, essentially boils down to “she said, he said”. Schulz, proclaiming his innocence, may think (perhaps based on legal advice) that there’s a (slim?) chance of a miscarriage of justice and a guilty verdict. Wouldn’t you, in that situation, think seriously about paying a bit of pocket money to have it all go away? I would. You could also ask why the alleged victim didn’t reject the money and carry on through court in order to get justice and to have Schulz seen for what he is and proven to be guilty. She could then push for compo anyway. Schulz paying the alleged victim is not an admission of guilt any more than him admitting “wrongdoings”.
  11. Admitting “wrongdoings” is not the same as admitting to committing the alleged offences.
  12. Like in the Horizon scandal? Maybe Schulz didn’t want to wait years for lies to be exposed, so (because he has the means) opted to buy his way out of a trial. No different to Prince Andrew: both may be guilty, both may not be. As we’ve seen with the Post Office, even with a trial where there’s little third party evidence, there’s still much doubt on the outcome. But if it’s accept the outcome of the judicial system or accept the social media consensus, I know which side I’m on.
