  1. In my time, since the eary 1960s - Don Megson
  2. If 42 is correct that makes him potentialy the answer to life, the universe and everything not just our sriker problem .
  3. Everyone except top left, names rolled straight off withou a thoight.
  4. Having watched the Owls whilst I was living in Sheffield from early 60s to early 90s my vote can only go to the great, unflappable Ron Springett.
  5. I was there but 55 years on I struggle to recall details of what I saw 55 minutes ago let alone 55 years. I would have stood towards the top of the Lep Corner as I always did throughout the 60s - now unused and covered in blue sheeting Having looked at the team that day I do have vivid memorys of watching most of the players in the 1960s even if I can't recall specific matches apart from the 1966 cup run . Oh for a Don Megson, Vic Mobley, Gerry Young, David Ford, Jack Witham, John Fantham et al these days.
  6. Im sure that is correct but are you saying that the list justifies the club having to pay the agent a huge sum to transfer the player in rather than just in relation to the the transfer and contract negotiatons? Surely the majority of the what he does be paid for by the player himself?
  7. Although I went to a few matches in the late 1950s I didn't watch the Owls regularly until 1961/62. Good as the current players are if only they could add a Layne, Fantham and Dobson to the forwards, and whilst wishing for a time machine, the one and only Peter Swan. Thanks for the memories Colin.
  8. Back in the late 50s /early 60s wasn't the Classic cinema called The News Theatre? I remember going to Saturday morning children's film shows that they put on, cartoons and adventure serials.
  9. Last time I was at St James was Feb 1966. Pitch had banks of snow around it. Enjoyed the 2:1 result and jeering their recent signing Keith Kettleborough (ex Blade for the younger readers) who did not have a great match.
  10. I'm another who was at both those matches. Beckenbauer was absolutely superb in the match v the Swiss.
  11. From around when I started watching Wednesday Peter Swan Ron Springett David Layne Plus as reserve - Vic Mobley
  12. 10 seconds on Google turned up this about the Reading injured list including Joao. - https://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/reading-updates-joao-meite-paunovic-22347388 Do we really want to pay an arm and a leg for a forward who's been out injured for months and who'll take a dozen + games to get match fit?
