  1. The only realistic way out of this is a co investment where DC takes a back seat and gets an earn out linked to Premier league stuff. The theory that a few people (that he doesn’t probably like anyhow) jumping up and down will convince him to take a 100m haircut is clearly button moon thinking.
  2. You don’t become a billionaire by buying football clubs this never heard of.
  3. If they want no replays they should have seeded the 3rd round to ensure the smaller clubs get a home game against one of the bigger teams.
  4. How else will the big teams find time to go to Australia for pre season games.
  5. This is like the Auntie with the beard. Everyone realises it but no one wants to face facts and admit this is exactly where we are.
  6. The mob that buys tickets, attends games, supports the team and helps keep a club going for you to belly ache about 24/7. That mob?
  7. Not purely though. Has made a difference but home attendances are surely up. There was always going to be a drop in season tickets this time after the euphoria that followed Wembley last time around. The only sensible metric would be to see an average of season tickets sold over the last 10 years on the first day of the season. If this new seasons figure is 20% down on that average then clearly we have a big issue. My best guess is that we are averaging broadly the same this time around. Röhl staying and a decent summer transfer window and people will buy. Much to the frustration of those that don’t want to, and in reality have never had any intention of doing so. Empty vessels etc.
  8. Agree. But the football machine keeps rolling. It’s the ultimate cash cow. One of the reasons so much US money is heading here is because the game has exploded over there. Traditional sports like baseball etc are panicked as kids just want to play soccer. Football as a business is like no other and the bubble ain’t bursting for a while yet.
  9. Averaging just short of 27k this season. If we stay up and Röhl hangs around we won’t be far off that next season.
  10. Fundamental issue on here is that some still think football is a game for the people. It isn’t. It’s business and has been for years. Foreign owners, players, managers, TV rights. We all signed up for this with the Sky TV subscriptions. DC has done the maths and can average 28k at these prices. As a business model for a team very well short of the Premier League you have to say he’s nailed it. You may well not agree with it but he’s here to make money believe it or not. Clearly failing on that one. The prices are too high but it is what it is and it’s his train set. Either pay the prices or F off. Welcome to football in 2024.
  11. We will average thick end of 28,000 by the end of the season. That indicates that the pricing, as opaque and as confusing as it appears, it pitched at the right level. This is a side that’s been bottom 3 all season.
  12. People forget that 4-2 win at Blackburn we were actually losing. Roy Wegerle. For 25 minutes after that that’s the best I’ve ever seen Wednesday play. That team is the best in my 40 odd years following the club.
  13. Are those figures actually correct? I do quite a lot of corporate stuff and for that money you would get onto the grid at the British Prix.
