  1. I have a couple of Bursaspor shirts randomly. Their recent history is quite remarkable. Won their first Turkish Süper Lig title in 2010 but after years of mismanagement they now find themselves towards the bottom of the third level of Turkish football. They also have a really cool stadium!
  2. Yeah just seen his odds tumble dramatically. 100/1 > 33/1 > 8/1 > 6/1. Possibly as a result of a tweet I've just seen on the #swfc hashtag...
  3. Being in step 7 last year it was just a core group of support that formed (along with the groundhoppers that you get in non-league) so I got to know a few. Being based in Featherstone means there are a few from Pontefract that venture over on a regular basis, but mostly its just Wakefield central and the 5 towns. Crowds generally were around the 400 mark on average although there were close to 700 at the final game of the season. The league they were in last season was technically grassroots level, whereas the NCEL is classed as non-league so hopefully the average gate will increase this season. The owners are from Brazil, great guys who are ambitious and really want the club to progress, while also maintaining community value and a desire to make the club self-sustainable. It certainly feels different to the previous failed attempts at establishing football within the city, everything is run professionally down to the last detail.
  4. It was. The old ownership have since stepped aside with VO2 Capital (a wealth management company based in the USA) taking over and providing new investment. I'm a volunteer at the club and since they came in, along with new manager and former QPR youth team coach Gabriel Mozzini, the team went on a 15 game unbeaten run to secure the league title. Featherstone Rovers have been great with the club and for the foreseeable The Millennium Stadium will be the clubs' home. Great little place with plenty of character. For those who will be attending, pop up to the upstairs bar which overlooks the pitch, its all very smart up there. I'm still a big Wednesdayite at heart of course, but being able to be involved with my hometown club has been fascinating. Hopefully we can see a good crowd down at Featherstone for this one!
  5. Du Du Du-Du-Du-Da DELE-BASHIRU! To the tune of Kungs - This Girl. https://youtu.be/2Y6Nne8RvaA I know other clubs have used this tune but it fits perfect for Dele-Bashiru. I do like the F-I-S-AYO one though!
  6. If Bruce does go then Daniel Stendel is someone that I’d like us to shortlist. 50% win rate during his one season in charge of Hannover 96. Onto Barnsley where he has a 56% success rate and achieved automatic promotion last season. Has said he is keeping his options open when Boro were rumoured to be interested recently. Not yet signed a new deal with Barnsley and is out of contract next summer.
  7. Had a go at creating something a bit more modern the other day. I like our current badge but always preferred the more simplistic Owl design.
  8. I’m more frustrated at last Saturday’s result if I’m honest. Before the game on Saturday I said I’d take a win against Reading and a point at Millwall as acceptable. Then the Rotherham game could go either way with it being a local derby, though we should have the upper hand. As Michael Hector has said on Twitter, last night was a battle, a scrap... Think the general rule has gotta be winning the home games and see picking up anything away as a bonus.
  9. Forgot to mention Hutch. He played alongside O’Grady at centre back & did well. Seemed his usual combative self & looked ready for first team action.
  10. Just left the ground. My summary of the game - A good 45 minutes for Winnall. Took his goal in typical fashion, linked play well & almost had a very good 2nd goal. Fitness is the main thing now of course. But he came through unscathed and that’ll do him the world of good. Stobbs’ main & sadly only asset is his delivery into the box. Put in several good crosses in the first half including the assist for Winnall’s goal. But the other, younger players are passing him in terms of development. Wildsmith did ok as did Fox. Eyad Hammoud is gonna be a real talent. Very excited by him & would love to see a partnership up top with Borukov. He has that low centre of gravity & seems to glide across the pitch with ease. Has the mannerisms of a certain top player who I won’t mention as we need to keep him grounded for now He seems very confident on the ball and may well be the next one that Jos has his eye on for the first team. Overall an enjoyable afternoon. UTO.
  11. I agree. He was okay last night but wasn't his best performance. But that is only because he has set the performance bar so high with what he has achieved this season. Fantastic player and we finally have a very good left-back / LWB.
  12. Paul Sturrock for me. A very good manager for the level we were at and got us up from League One in no time, when other ‘fallen giants’ have taken much longer to recover. To be honest though, I do think he inherited a well assembled squad for that level. Players who could immediately get us challenging (Maclean, Peacock, Bullen, Heckingbottom) mixed with several who were at an age to allow scope for development (Brunt, Whelan, JP etc). Jos is doing very well so far considering the restraints. Admirable the way he trusts the young players and so far that trust is being rewarded. I’ve wanted Matt Penney to be given a chance for a while so to see him in particular doing well is pleasing.
  13. Good effort that. I like the retro Owl printed into the blue. Nice little bit of detail. Personally though I prefer our home shirts to have no yellow. Just blue, white and black which I feel are our proper colours.
