Brunt and Whelan

Recommended Posts

Him and Joey O'Brien were the best central midfield pairing we've had in the past fifteen years.

Really? Did alright together for 6 games or so in League One. Don't think that justifies best pairing for 15 years.

Bannan and Lee better for a start. As are Lopez and Lee. Lines and Semedo were solid in League One for the course of the season.

People are being a bit harsh on Chris Lines.

Never a Championship quality player, let alone a player any where near at the level we are now, but he played nearly 50 games in the 2012 promotion season and really did a job for us with Semedo along side him.

Chris lines has got to be one of the worst centre midfielders I have ever seen in a Wednesday shirt. Him and potter along side each other in my Wednesday worst 11

Never played one game together.

Edit. Read it wrong. Apologies

Forestieri > Brunt

Bannan > Whelan

Both comparisons are wrong.   Brunt is all delivery and the pass, Forestieri is about the movement and magic.

Bannan is about the guile and the vision, but mainly keeping possession, Whelan is about the tackle and the simple pass with the odd wild long pass or shot.

No offence, but all four players would play in the same side easily, Bannan and Whelan would probably complement each other in the middle of the park no end for instance.

Hunt.......Lees.......Bougherra.......Pudil

Antonio...Whelan...Bannan.....Brunt

Reyt team, although Wallace is probably more suited to our style of play than Antonio.

Kieran Lee is pushing Whelan close.
