Empty seats

Recommended Posts

It seems the away following today is going to be poor and were gonna be robbed of 5/6k seats that we could have easily have filled. Everybody knew it was going to be a full house today so why did we have to give them the full away end!? Couldn't we have just given them a few hundred tickets somewhere and filled leppings lane with our own fans? Making the atmosphere even more intimidating

Surely it's easier for the police to manage 500 Cardiff season ticket holders in the corner of the south than police all of the leppings lane end

There are rules about minimum allocations, you can't just give them 500 tickets and shove them in the corner.

There also has to be adequate segregation and concourse facilities (toilets etc) available, we can't segregate in the home stands and with Cardiff's notoriously less than perfect following they clearly didn't want to risk it on the Lep.

You also have to weigh up the cost, is it worth the extra police and stewarding cost simply for another 2k Wednesday fans?

And when the tickets went on sale there was a chance the game would be a dead rubber and potentially only attract 25K.

Just not bothered...

the club comments about the empty seats - 'we will continue to work closely with the Safety Advisory Group to address arising issues for future games', shows that they at least tried and hopefully with DC being a proper businessman, won't simply tolerate being fobbed off by some bureaucrat

The police and stewards will be there anyway for today's match ,stood amongst empty seats. I agree with the concourse issues, but maybe we could have given them just the bottom of leppings lane? Other clubs at other grounds cram small numbers of away fans in corners

Like where?  It's about a proportion of the ground and safe segregation.

There would need to be extra stewards and extra police if we had owls on the Lep.
