Guest mkowl
Delayed due to FA cup semi final between Man U and Derby (I think) at Hillsborough on the original date of the Wednesday Southend match, which ended up being played after the normal end of the season which would not be allowed now. I always thought that was the first match at Hillsborough post fences going up
Bolsterstone Owl
Remember the North Stand seat cushions always thrown onto pitch in second half in disgust at the utter tripe being served up as football. They were dark days. 11k was a good attendence at home then.

Captain30
Stood on the Kop and seemed to have a memory it persisted down all night. I was 15 and had been going all season and as much as I loved many of the players in that team - including Prendo - we were truly sheet.

nevthelodgemoorowl
Looking back I don't recall much. However, our cup match v Macclesfield which we won 3-1 with our scorers listed, almost sure Tony Coleman registered for the Macclesfield goal. Ian_D
On the kop that night. No need of a band back then but no roof either to keep the rain off.
dewsburyowl58
40 years ago !! really , yes I was there it was an amazing night practically everyone on the pitch it was my first time I had ventured onto the hallowed turf and can remember taking a little of it home with me !! its occasions like that which make our beautiful club so unique 26,000 fans turned out after all the dross of that season just showed what great support the Owls had and still have
Dick_Turpin
Went on the Lep. Just before the final whistle a copper told us the first one over the wall would get a boot in the face. He was swamped.
AlbertOB
40 years ago!..........I hadnt realised it was that long since I remember the season but I cant remember much about that match. I was on the Kop (stood up) but I was well pissed.

fredmciverslovechild
Apparently there were 59,632 at the Derby-Man Ure semi. It's before my time, but when attendance really dived in that era, what was it like to be at a near empty Hillsborough? The lowest crowd which, I think, I ever saw at Hillsborough was 5883 for a League Cup tie against Bournemouth; that was actually a year or two earlier. But quite regularly crowds even for league games were less than 10,000. It was quite eerie when it was like that because you could be standing on the Kop and no one would be within about five yards of you. Sometimes everyone would sit down on the terrace and sometimes, especially at night games, everyone would come down from the top of the Kop to stand on the first few rows to try and create an atmosphere.....or was it simply to keep warm? 31Dec1966
On the Kop, roughly where I sit now. Very nervous, even at 2-0 ! Called at the pub in Dronfield (Red Lion ?) at the bottom of the hill to Hallowes estate for a pint and a calm down on the way home.
bradowl
Fleming was a lot later wasn't he? Big Jack bought him. Yes I think you're right, I wonder what Jack saw in him, no better than Peter Feeley. Think it might have been Tommy Tynan we signed during summer, he was a good signing, him and Roger Wylde were a decent front two.
daveyboy66
On the North... took my little brother with me for his first match...I wouldn't let him run on the pitch I think he's never forgiven me
