Do You Remember Our Incredible Defence From Last Season?

Recommended Posts

They were pretty good, weren't they?

Well, this year's team have conceded just one measly goal more than they had at the same stage of the season.

Not bad for an attack-minded team, eh? I wonder how that side of the game is working out for us?

Pretty decent. It's all about points on the board though, isn't it?

I love a good line graph! Great post!

I didn't think we'd be far off last seasons conceding as last few games especially we've not let in many at all.

I still think we will get better in last section of season. That's what excites me the most that very rarely we go out and play well all game.

What I do remember is the boring matches last season.

What a turnaround this season.

I'm now almost counting down the hours to the next 3 points.

To think the stats are even more impressive when you consider the injuries to GK and CB's throughout the season.

A definite change this season is CC never blames injuries ever, that confidence or ethos seems infectious. I don't panic when we play "kids" in goals or "3rd choice keepers" nor when we have used 5 or 6 defenders in the centre.

As our players return and consistency comes in surely this can only get better.

No of goals conceded in last ten league games, working backwards, is:

0-1-1-1-0-2-0-1-0-1

ie 0.7/game

which really isn't bad at all, especially so when mostly done without Tom Lees.

More qualitatively, last season's defensive record was to a large extent the result of stellar goalkeeping performances.  KW was MoM more often than not, which tells you something about the side.  This season, keepers have been relatively underworked.
