PeteG_1984
I'm as annoyed at the ridiculous restrictions as everyone else but do we have an actual reason why? Is it to do with the age of the stadium meaning it's not as easy to block off certain parts to keep fans away from each other? The particular design near the corner? Even then, we've all been to and seen ground where opposing fans are much closer in other parts of the country. Or is it simply due to the events of April 1989? I'm genuinely interested to know the proper reason
Night King
Isn't it something to with the concourse area been too small? Gets too crowded.
ViolaOwls
Nothing to do with 89 you only have to look at the Wycombe game. Sold the stand out properly. If you remember the club had loads of trouble convincing syp that the Wycombe fans would be ok to just have the NW corner. Until this stand is dragged down and rebuilt properly, segregation will always be a problem
Buxtongent
I heartily agree that the segregation at Hillsborough is way OTT, but don't forget, there is still an ongoing inquest regarding the 'Hillsboro' Disaster', where the SYP are being castigated for everything except actually buying drinks for L'ool fans immediately prior to the game. The fact that, at a game exactly like this had taken place a mere 12 months before, and that up to the time Hillsborough had staged as many semi final games as any other club,(any semi's played on Merseyside were invariably at Goodison Park)with complete safety, is totally ignored. There is little wonder that SYP should take this over-cautious attitude. As for the prices, these must be agreed with the away club in advance, and the prices set are the same for both sides. The price for Season Ticket Holders and members of SW are £25. Knowing little of the facilities at Arsenal's new ground, and their record in Premiership and Europe, I can only assume that the tickets sold to Arsenal will be insufficient for them to put them on General Sale, hence the price for what will be Arsenal ST holders. bradowl
The restrictions seem to have become more restricted since that Leeds thug ran on and slapped Kirkland and that Bolton fan fell out of upper tier.
AgileBeastt
yes arsenal members not wednesday. How can being a member of another club entitle you to another clubs discount. We have to charge them the same. Both clubs agree on cup game prices. If they didn't sell out on st holders and members, then when it went on general sale they would have been charged £30 like us. bradowl
No wonder they've sold out.... http://www.arsenal.com/match/report/1516/travel/first-team/sheffield-wednesday-v-arsenal-travel
SouthernOwl24
No wonder they've sold out.... http://www.arsenal.com/match/report/1516/travel/first-team/sheffield-wednesday-v-arsenal-travel Away fans also have munich to travel to. So to subsidise a coach to swfc is the least they could do!!!

KivoOwl
West Stand ticket restriction is down to concourse size. Not cost-effective to spend millions building more concourse room so we may as well knock the whole thing down and start again.

Or even for the Euros in 96. Surely we could have gotten a government grant to pay for it
bradowl
I assumed arsenal would fill both tiers tbh not really they are the most fickle fans outside the prem Have you never heard of Brian the Blade?
Rustyfunk
Why are Arsenal fans only being charged 25 quid when Wednesday fans are being charged 30 quid on general sale ... Are all Arsenal fans members? Serious question as that, frankly, is the club ripping off their own Arsenal 60k members/ST holder with 3100 tickets available - never going to get to going on general sale We've what 18K members/ST holders tops for 30k seats Personally i think it sucks
dinno
So we have 18k season ticket holders with a 100% chance of getting a ticket for £25 Yet Arsenal have 60k members/season ticket holders with 5k tickets so 12 % chance of a ticket sounds fair to me

ViolaOwls
Miffed- rebuilt for euro 96? You have to be kidding, that cretin Richards made us the most embarrassing team in the world for those championships. The south stand wasn't even finished, the grandstand was just frame work with the rear of the ground open to the eliments. Could you imagine if that happended today? Panorama Run special progs before every tournament telling how stadiums are behind and wont be finished, yet they look amazing on tv once its ko time. Ours was finished a year later. ViolaOwls
Are you slating this because fans that have to travel up from London for a third class cup to them have to pay a fiver less? Behave yourselfs, if boot was other foot people would be saying, we should only have to pay £10 as arsenal don't need the money. Just enjoy the fact the ground may have over 30k against a quality team and it may look full for once live on tv
