Freshfish
Perhaps. I'd prefer just to call Martin O'Neil all the names under the sun though ..aye, well I'll go with that
Simaniac Owl
Martin O'Neil Joke of a manager.
mozzy85
Shay Given is 39 and Stoke's reserve keeper. David Forde is nearly 36 and hasn't played since mid-August. Now is Millwall's reserve keeper. Darren Randolph is West Ham's reserve keeper. Westwood is the goalkeeper for a team 10th in the championship & was the championship's best keeper the previous season. Martin O'Neil has lost it. Not only should Westwood be in the squad, but he should be the first choice. Mental. This^^^ He's clearly a flipping tool.

coreyswfc
He probably saw his distribution the last few games.
PeteG_1984
I'm disappointed for Westwood as we all know he deserves the Irish number 1 shirt but on a selfish note I'm happy for him to concentrate on club football for us.
trev
Is he likely to consider moving to the prem even as back up so he gets called up? I hope not.
Tommo_
If anyone saw how O'Neill set up Ireland to play v Gibraltar no one would be surprised about this decision. He's a flipping moron
FlyingOwl
Is he likely to consider moving to the prem even as back up so he gets called up? I hope not. Just signed a new deal so I doubt it. And IF he did we'd be likely to get 4 or 5million.
GMOwl72
Is he likely to consider moving to the prem even as back up so he gets called up? I hope not. Wouldn't have to thought so given that they are calling up a keeper from league

djstatic
He was in the 40 not the 27 Apologies, you're correct. Still bad though. I still don't know how O'Neill can justify this decision.
Tommo_
Just thinking, it's irrelevant whether or not Westwood makes the squad. O'Neill would still start Dinosaur Given even if he had 2 broken arms. He probably saw his distribution the last few games. So he overlooked him and had a look at League One instead. 31Dec1966
Whilst having sympathy for Westwood and agreeing that its Lunacy that a player with his ability can't make the top 40 for his country from a selfish point of view good for Wednesday he's just back from injury let him put his feet up for a week and stay fresh for us without risking any injury with Ireland Oh yes. OwlLuke
Yep we have four games in 10 days straight after the international break, O'Neill is absolutely bonkers and Westwood must be gutted but at least he'll be well rested for the congested two weeks after. Leaping Lannys Perm
Perhaps we requested he wasn't called up as he isn't fully recovered from injury.
belfast owl lad
i used to rate o'neill highly, but some of his tactics for ROI have been questionable to say the least, omitting westwood is utter madness, still,it keeps him fresh for us which is more important. His management has been pure lunacy, baffling decisions. The one that sticks out most is constantly benching Shane Long. If anyone watched the away game against Gibraltar and saw disjointed and static they were, dear god. They struggled at times..... Against Gibraltar. They have Poland and Germany coming up, fear the worst
