Wednesday fans are no different to any other clubs fans...Have a look at that Villa message board regarding Bannan...pure vitriol, the like of which you rarely get on here...

Sure you get fans saying so an' so's crap or whatever...you get that absolutely everywhere..

Fans booing at Hillsborough..If they were not Wednesday fans they wouldn't be there...

I love my club

I love match days with a passion

Going with my kids and meeting up with friends who we met at football and have become firm family friends outside of our football relationship.

I've followed Wednesday for years , Eric Potts was the first player I can remember

and I've had the pleasure of watching real Wednesday legends , Sterland, Hirst , Neilson, Sheridan etc..

I've followed us home and away and  had the horror of travelling to Gillingham for a Tuesday night fixture only for it to be called off.

I've watched some real poor stuff but on the flip side I've watched us lift a cup and witnessed promotion whilst with my son.

I don't think we have ever been in a better position than we are currently , had you have a drawn a wish list of everything you wanted from a chairman I cant see you getting a better man than DC.

We have really landed on our feet here and I have no doubt that his medium and long term vision for the club are as exciting as his current short term plans.

I feel we have probably the best squad on a player for player basis in the championship and a coach who is as knowledgeable as he is charismatic and approachable.

When this team gels as it surely will , we will be genuine contenders and a real force to be reckoned with .

The point of this thread is why oh why do we seem to have so many idiotic supporters posting pathetic, rude and offensive views on various social media platforms?

Some of the venomous nasty comments directed at our own players , managers and board make my blood boil, my heart sink and  genuinely weep for the real fans of this wonderful club.

So the next time you read one of these stupid comments from fans who seem to believe we are playing a game of FIFA 15 ( or what ever it is )

Remind them that we are all meant to be Wednesday and if you cant put across a valid alternative  point without being abusive , please do us all a favour and go and watch someone else.

I hear what you're saying but fear you're wasting your breath. Like everything else in today's society, fans want instant gratification and if they don't get it then all hell breaks loose. For God's sake we've played five league matches. Lets see where we are come the end of October.

We have always had players who were the target of boo boys ,Not everyone feels the same way ,I always try to defend them ,Hated kids being picked on at school so it,s something natural to me ,Any one remember full back Chris morris ,Not good enough for us to some ,What about Mel sterland when he played in midfield ,The lad then loved this club but got stick from the boo boys ,Played at full back and it all changed ,John Pearson great lad Wednesdayite as well he got stick.Atdhe is the target now ,He is up front on his own ,The problem is with Carlos ,Or should i say his tactics one up front that,s it.

OT has been a link to SWFC whilst living overseas, at times its been like a comfort blanket, others its like visiting Dignitas.

People just need to get behind the cause as if we dont we wont achieve our objectives, all this booing and chanting Stuart Grays name etc is beyond belief.

Guest Distraught!

Dear Mr Distraught.

I take your point entirely.

My point was however directed at those who abuse our current players and management

Debate is healthy and we will always have differing opinions that is the way it should be and what makes the whole thing fun.

I'm no great fan of the pricing policy or catering at Hillsborough

.

However I wouldn't abuse those responsible, because they are part of my club

Yeah, to be honest after re-reading your post, I can see the point your getting at. Your not saying there's no room for alternative viewpoints but there is also a correct way to express that viewpoint. I won't disagree with that.

Initially, when I scanned it (as I often do with long posts without looking at the detail), I thought it was more "you're either with us or against us" b ollox.

We support the same club (well most of us  ) but would you want to socialise with some of the characters that post on here and various other media outlets?

I wouldn't.

I think if Stuart Gray had the same financial backing we would have been in top 6 ,But gray wanted something different to the owner and it,s history ,But did like Gray but he has gone.

I agree totally with the OP.

I would also defend the right of anyone to express an alternative viewpoint.

What i can't understand however, is what these 'alternative' viewpoints, frequently vitriolic, are based on.

Everyone on here has their opinion and most are 'experts' and scholars of the game.

Using this 'expertise' and experience, how long would most people say it takes a new set up to start to pay dividends?

As proven in the past, it can take 1 player, 1 individual player a full season to prove his worth not to even mention how long it would take an entirely new squad, complete with new head coach, styles, probably training methods etc etc.

People will turn this on its head and say we shouldn't have changed so much so quickly. We should have retained the previous manager, the very same manager that should have been sacked last year according to many for serving up the most boring football we'd seen in years. (Not my view btw). We should have just added to the squad etc etc.

I do not agree (again, only my opinion and i respect other opinions). We did not need a bit of tinkering here and there, we needed a complete revolution, and a seismic change to blow away the stagnant attitudes of the previous god knows how many years.

We've done this, virtually new everything across the board, headed up by someone who is clearly going to make it happen regardless of cost or of stepping on individuals or puncturing ego's.

HE IS GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. HE WILL NOT SANCTION FAILURE.  He has put his money where his mouth is and regardless of personal points of view re the manager, the style etc etc, we should be eternally grateful for this.

Instead we are fragmenting into self interest groups seemingly trying to justify their already held opinions formulated before a ball was kicked.

Anyone who advocates a bit of patience before they form their opinion is a 'Clapper' etc etc ad infinitum.

How anyone can start wanting to dismantle what's happening after so short a time is beyond me.

I don't even understand why they are panicking. It seems clear to me that if any part of the experiment isn't working is will be sorted a lot more ruthlessly & efficiently than the doubters on here would do. That is already borne out by recent signings that maybe didn't turn out as expected and have been already seemingly replaced.

For god's sake at least give it reasonable time before we consign the whole shooting match as a dismal failure after the grand total of half a dozen games.

So wawaw only applies to people with the same opinions as you and your mates? Is that what you mean?

I think he's saying that some perspective is needed.

Constant negativity, bleating and knee jerk reactions are way, way out of order - unless you don't have the ability to see beyond the end of your nose.

We have fallen on our feet after years of pain.

How about "realising" we are moving forward and enjoy the ride? Eh?

It will take time to get 15 new players to gel, we will be far from the finished article and we'll probably be 8-12th this season.

But we are building and next season should be time for us to have higher expectations.

FFS, please give the club, manager and players just a little time without the constant negative nonsense.

A large proportion of society are just thicko's who don't give a stuff about anyone but themselves. They fly tip. Park wherever they want. Subject everyone else to their loud crappy music, throw McDonald's cups out of their car window and come on here being abusive. They think that's normal.

Agreed!  And what's more - the people whose job is to take action against such wrong doings are called "little Hitlers" or "Ayatollahs" or whatever the fashionable phrase of the moment happens to be.  It all goes back to the breakdown of discipline in schools and amongst parents who can't be bothered to impose proper behavioural standards on their children because at times it's actually hard work.

But back to the storyline!  We should be able to disagree and take different points of view on here without abuse or vitriol.  Maybe it's time for the mods to take action and ban those who can't adhere to those standards.

Whilst I agree with most of the OP and can relate to the general sentiment I don’t agree with bits of it and one part especially.

I have had some amazing times watching Wednesday since a 6 year old in 1978. Seen the amazing highs and depressing lows the OP points out.

As I am sure we all do I love the club with a passion.

I do think there is a “general” ethos amongst our fan base and this board especially. It is a massive generalisation but none the less I believe it exists.

I will say that any abuse towards players or club especially as cowardly as on social media is totally unacceptable.

However, I do think there is a general over reaction to anybody who even dares to question anything at the club never mind constructively criticise. I remember years ago it was said (I forget by who) that Wednesday fans will even watch the grass grow at Hillsborough and say it's great! I know where they are coming from. I will defend the club from any outside attack but I try and remain subjective and the fact I do care so much does make me question certain things at certain times.

Take the current set up. This is where I cannot agree with the OP as decent as it is, “I don't think we have ever been in a better position than we are currently.” Well we are in the 2nd tier for a start with an inexperienced set up. Of course I am glad at the investment and type of players we have bought and/or are been linked with. The bottom line is what happens on the pitch to vindicate this wave of optimism. It’s early days granted and I will give it time and would love nothing more than to be proved wrong about CC but nothing I have seen so far quells any of my initial concerns. As for the ticket prices, I know this has been done to death but clearly DC has made a huge error of judgment. Again, early days but already it’s disturbing to see our smaller sister from across the city are averaging higher attendances and in a division below. This is unheard of.

So, yes we are all Wednesday but to those who think questioning the club is such a bad thing it isn't when it's constructive and in my own case only goes to show how much I actually do give a (((0 and a lot of the time I can see the early warning signs things aren’t right. Maybe if we weren’t so apathetic as a fan base in the mid 90’s things could have been different?

Always support the club, always be behind them, always get my season ticket and always love them but like family it doesn’t mean every now and again they get on your nerves and you should be allowed to question them and not be vilified for doing so.
