Will the pitch be ready in time?

Recommended Posts

Desso GrassMaster is a sports playing field surface composed of natural grass combined with artificial fibres. The artificial grass fibres are injected 20 centimetres (7.9 in) deep, and cover about 3% of the surface. While the grass is growing, the roots intertwine with the artificial fibres. The designers claim this anchors the field to create a solid, even structure with good drainage and 'playing comfort'.

...Given when they started ripping up our old 'pitch' I'd say they've got their work cut out to be ready for the new season, especially if we're having Desso....

Can't believe we're the first club to replace an existing pitch in the close season with a Desso plus new underground heating and drainage.

Fairly sure Desso and the contractors wouldn't want to put their reputations on the line if they didn't think it could be done in the time allowed.

The contractors are aiming to be finished with pitch seeded by the 14th June when Desso is due to start. It takes about 10 days for the Desso fibres to be injected so the pitch has about 7 weeks to grow for the start of the season. It doesn't sound a lot to me but as you say the contractors, Desso & the club won't put their reputations on the line.

QPR did a similar renovation in 2013 (overseen by the same guy who's doing ours Nick Danvers). They didn't start unitl the end of may but it was ready for the opening day of season against us on August 3rd.

Reading that it looks as though the seeding won't be done until after the desso had been stiched.
