Guest Ellis Rimmer
Why does that benefit us directly though? Id rather him just play for us. 1) Confidence for the players, club and fans that we have some quality players 2) Increases the re-sale value of Westwood 3) Heightens the name or brand of Sheffield Wednesday
stewtheowl
Remember playing Milwall away away a couple of seasons ago and seeing Forde's attempt at saving Lleras tame free kick? He's an average keeper at best. Certainly not international standard. Shay Given is however a quality keeper but age isn't in his side. Westwood is the obvious choice! Guest Hola Tidman
Madmax is clearly on the wind up... Either that or he's not seen many of our games this season. Manuel neur wouldn't have kept a clean sheet in that game against Norwich. Westwood is a far better keeper than either of given or forde. This season puts that argument to bed. KivoOwl
Dont know if ya refering to me, but if saying he's not as good as Given is slating him so be it. He's not as good as a few Irish keepers i can think of, but how is that slating.A few?Name three Irish keepers better than Keiren Westwood Edited March 29, 2015 by KivoOwl
Ronio
I love Westwood. Best keeper we've had since Pressman.
themaskedowl
So do i pal: But everyone on here thinks he's the best wev'e had an he aint.I believe everyone on here think he's better than Forde and Given and that's about it.
dan140177
Forde is utter guff. God knows how he has kept hold of the No1 shirt for ROI. probably cos he gets more practice due to his goal being constantly peppered week in week out. He's definitely better than Westwood at picking the ball out of the net.
Hawkeye
Easy peesy. Jennings, Kelly & Given. Which jennings and which Kelly?
Guest
People genuinely think Forde is anywhere near Westwoods standard ?? Given ?! Who does he even play for these days ? Westwood should retire from international football if he's not getting a game ahead of those two

Westwood should retire from international football if he's not getting a game ahead of those two Given is Villa's number two and barely played in the past two years. He's 39 in less than a month. How the chuff is he even considered as Ireland's number one if he's not even his own clubs number one? It's not like Ireland are some shitty little country. They've got some quality players in their set up and should qualify for this Euros. Baffling. Edited March 29, 2015 by FlyingOwl
wexowl
Since when do international teams pick "in form" players? Think back over the years when international teams picked from very narrow squads the left -back was the left back ,centre backs never changed. maybe Kane the other night is an exception. Forde has had many good games for Ireland but with the season Milwall are having Westwood would be my clear choice today. Given should retire again(gracefully). He let us down badly at the last Euros declaring himself fit when he clearly wasn't and more fool Trapattoni for accomodating him. Jack Charlton would not have been impressed.

S36 OWL
Ok the defence make blunders, But in goalkeepings terms, Any keeper who lets a goal in @ his near post is not worh his salt. A qoute from a very famous top goalkeeping coach. Are you for real ?
TheBoyBeevers
Bizarre but I'm not complaining. The longer he stays under everybody's radar the better as far as I and SWFC are concerned.

GY-owl.4
Shay Given in his pomp was better than Westwood will ever be, (and most other keepers tbf!) but this was some years ago, and as it stands today, KW is the best keeper of the 3 of them by quite a distance. i seem to remember before the 2010 WC we didnt reveal our keeper till the hour before kick-off, Hart, Green or David James. Hart was young but he was good enough and i wanted him to play, but thought we would go with D James. as we all know, he went with Rob Green who threw the ball in the net v USA and we never got going after that, went out with a whimper. Lets Hope ROI dont get bitten by this absurd omission too!
Hawkeye
If you dont know you are either too young or not knowledgable to argue. If you mean pat jennings, wasn't he northern irish? And if you mean ex pig Kelly, he was garbage. Neither are playing any more so how are they better than westwood?
FlyingOwl
Youve got it. both world class. Think we were looking for two current Irish keepers that are better than Westwood. Edited March 29, 2015 by FlyingOwl
Hawkeye
Youve got it. both world class. Are you on the wind up? Jennings was northern irish, not the Republic. ignoring the fact he's been retired for donkeys years. Matchday strikes again.
