Mcgugan

Not a chance. Wednesday weren't paying wages like that last season, and even with the proposed investment, I'd be very surprised if we did it this pre-season, bar a possible marquee signing.

Not having ago as such but how can anyone make judgements like this? When none of us have any idea on the what players budget will be for the next few seasons?

We might be shopping out of Aldi or then again it might be Selfridges.

Westwood is worth two players on 10k per week, so it doesn't seem too far out of the realms of possibility.  We have had a pretty small squad this season.

McGugan's on 20 grams of what? Bit of an accusation that Parker!

And Holmes, I agree that we'd struggle to find any footballers for sale in Aldi - very narrow range. Tesco seem to have branched out to sell pretty much anything, but I suspect we'd even be struggling in there.

To go from that to a department store is probably a move in the right direction. Even so, I'm still not sure they stock people, let alone any that can play football.

Maybe we could try Sports Direct or JJB?

I'm not in the habit of making ITK statements.

But this I was told by the most reputable of sources. He was signed with money promised by Mamadov. We couldn't afford him once that deal went boobies up, and if the Chsnsiri deal wasn't happening we would have flogged him in the Jsnuary window.

Hence him being dropped for the Man City game, we couldn't afgird for him to be cup tied in case we were forced to sell him

Sounds very plausible

I would love to sign Lewis McGugan in the summer.

The reason he isnt rated that highly at Watford is because they have players who are equally good or better.

Lewis should just be the start of quality coming in.

He does look outstanding in our quality starved team, like Drenthe did.

Absolutely right

This is why the championship is so hard.

Watford have been paying mcgugan big money and he can't even get in their team. They must be able to afford it

Watford feel they have at least 3 central midfielders better than him

On top of that they have vydra deeney ighalo and forestiri as choices up front

They might still only make playoffs , it is very tight up there

Either they aren't that good Or we need to get way way better? Which one is it?

McGugan ticks a lot of boxes for us.

We desperately need a dead ball specialist. We desperately need more goals from midfield. We need more creativity from open play. We need players with proven Championship quality.

We could spend a long time looking for an alternative if we don't get him

Like the vast majority of players, he will go wherever offers the most money. Don't fall for the 'great club' stuff. Footballers have a short career, and those at this level, with half a brain, realise that they need to make as much money, as quickly as possible. And you can't really blame them for that.

I agree last time i heard an interview by him he sounded very non committal

The Forest fans I know think McGugan's a bit of a luxury player who drifts in and out of games. They tend to like him, but don't see him as a massive loss. Maybe he's matured since he was at Forest though, as he's certainly taken games by the scruff of the neck once he's returned to full fitness and he's not the type of player to let games pass him by at all.

He's exactly the type of player we've been missing for YEARS and if he's open to a permanent move then we really need to pull out all the stops to sign him this summer.

With someone like Semedo in the side and the way we have been playing, its perfect for mcgugan. Let's be fair, he's good enough at this level to make things move at his pace which is pretty relaxed. If he was expected to get box to box then questions would be asked, but he seems to have been given a bit of a free midfield role here and he's thriving lol
