malek
Few years now since Kivo last wrote profiles of our academy players. Considering he is a guy who brings us joy with his tweets from academy games it would make sense for him to do them once again as it would make Wednesday Youth tweets easier to follow, and much more enjoyable. Names, age, positions they play, bit of stats if you still keep them (how many games they played, and goals they scored this season), as well as bit info on their strengths and weaknesses would be perfect. How about it old chap ? Considering you have will and time to do so off course. It would be much appreciated

KivoOwl
Brad Beatson - 18 - Centre-back - 2nd year scholar - Left foot Strong defender that currently captains the U18s and plays most U21 games too. Good in the air and reads the game well. Franck Betra - 18 - Striker - Professional contract (expires summer 2016 - I think) - Right foot Very fast striker, very difficult to defend against. Been in and around the first team set-up but is unfortunately out for the season with injury. Spencer Brown - 16 - Right-back/midfield - 1st year scholar (I think, might be an U16 player) - Right foot Versatile right sided player who has excelled with the U18s this season and has been elevated to the U21s. Good on the ball. Warren Clarke - 17 - Centre midfield - 1st year scholar - Right foot Decent with either feet, all action midfielder who gets around the park. Not bad on the ball either. Mike Conneh - 17 - Right back/wing - 2nd year scholar - Right foot Can run all day up the right wing but hasn't seen as much game time as he'd like Ryan Croasdale - 20 - Midfield - Professional contract (expires summer 2015) - Right foot All round midfield equally adept going forward or sitting deep. Good on the ball. Joined from Preston, where he played in the Football League Trophy. Cameron Dawson - 19 - Goalkeeper - Professional contract (expires summer 2016) - Right foot Very good all round keeper, England U19 honours. Been an unused sub at first team level on numerous occasions and spent a successful loan spell at Alfreton this season. Will De Haviland - 20 - Centre-back - Professional contract (expires summer 2015) - Right foot Strong centre-back. Good in the air and was elevated to the first team bench for our FA Cup tie at Man City. Mason Duffy - 16 - Winger - 1st yea scholar Joined from Manchester City last summer. Slight but tricky winger who can leave a full-back for dead. Has chipped in with a few goals at U18 level this season. Is featuring more often for the U21s too. Jake Ellam - 18 - Winger - 2nd year scholar - Right foot Barnsley product equally good on either wing, good on the ball and likes to take a man on. Seanna Foster - 18 - Right-back - 2nd year scholar - Right foot Full-back from Northern Ireland. On the small side but doesn't shy away. Excellent in the tackle and full of running. Jon Fusco - 17 - Striker - 2nd year scholar - Right foot Short but stocky striker with an eye for goal. May get a rare 3rd year as a scholar as he has only just come back from a long term injury. Currently impressing on loan at Hallam FC. Simon Hanna - 19 - Centre midfield - Professional contract (expires summer 2015) - Right foot Signed pro terms after impressing while captain of the U18s. Not the biggest but loves a crunching tackle and isn't bad on the ball either. Has international honours for Northern Ireland U19s George Hirst - 15 (might be 16) - Striker - U16 player, already signed a scholarship I think - Right foot Tall striker who has scored bucket loads for the U16s and made the fleeting appearance for the U18s Connor Kirby - 16 (I think - might be 15) - Centre midfield - 1st year scholar or U16, not sure which - Right foot Tidy central midfielder that recently made his U18 debut Glenn Law - 17 - Centre midfield - Right foot Diminutive holding midfielder from Northern Ireland who has the ability to control a game. Good on the ball and a good captain for the U18s. Brad McDonagh - 17 - Goalkeeper - 1st year scholar - Right foot U18 keeper signed from Manchester City in summer of 2014. Struggled to start with but then had a run of 8 successive clean sheets. Improving all the time but on the small side. Ryan Meadows - 19 - Midfield - Professional contract (expires summer 2015) - Left foot Tidy midfield player signed in October. Likes to run with the ball and can play as a second striker Josh Murray - Age unknown - Centre-back - Unknown contract status - Right foot Unsure where he's from, but he played well for the U18s yesterday and was included in the U21 squad last week Jake Nicholson - 16 - Midfield - 1st year scholar or U16 player - Right foot Very small stature but good on the ball, has featured occasionally for the U18s and likes to play behind the front line Joe Nuttall - 17 - Striker - Unsure on his contract situation - Right foot Commanding centre-forward from Man City who made his debut yesterday. Held the ball up well but reluctant to shoot on a few occasions Connor O'Grady - 17 - Centre-back - 1st year scholar - Right foot Tall centre-back, good in the air. Matt Penney - 17 - Predominantly left sided - 1st year scholar - Left foot Chesterfield product that can play all over the park but at his best on the left. Likes to take a man on, good on the ball, bit of pace, doesn't shirk a challenge. One to watch. Fraser Preston - 16 - Winger - U16/1st year scholar - not sure which Tricky winger who has appeared for Scotland's schoolboy team and a few times for our U18s. Ed Sanders - 19 - Centre-back/midfield - Professional contract (expires summer 2015) - Right foot Centre defender-cum-holding midfielder released by Stoke last summer. Has been in and out of the U21s. Josh Stachini - 17 - Left-back - 1st year scholar - Left foot Signed from Manchester City last summer. Stocky full-back with a good left foot and likes a tackle. Has already played for the U21s. Jack Stobbs - 18 - Right winger - Professional contract (expires summer 2016 - I think) - Right foot Speedy right winger with a pinpoint cross. Made his first team debut last April but is only just recovering from a long term injury. Freddy Tracey - 17 - Striker - 1st year scholar (I think - might be 2nd) - Right foot Strong striker who likes a battle. Regular for the U18s but has appeared for the U21s. Joe Wildsmith - 19 - Goalkeeper - Professional contract (expires summer 2016) - Right foot Another very good all round keeper with England youth honours. Has been an unused sub at first team level on a couple of occasions now but hasn't had a loan spell out yet. Matt Young - 21 - Right back - Professional contract (expires summer 2015) - Right foot Formerly with Southampton, signed after a successful trial at back end of last season. Nothing spectacular - but an honest, dependable right-back. Currently on loan at Carlisle United, where he made his Football League debut.
malek
Thanks a lot Kivo, excellent read. Seems like a talented squad of players. Few with a decent shot of making it in the game in there. I'm very excited about Matt Penney and Mason Duffy.

Ronnie Starling
The Stoke FA Youth Cup game was a toatl disaster and looked like men against boys. They looked very lacklustre and weak. The only bright spark was when George Hirst came on for a late cameo role. I do understand that we had to draft in a young Liverpool keeper who looked out of his depth.
