Guest owl from retford
Again today in one of the paper's believe it to be the sun linking him with a free transfer move to Blackpool cant really see that happening unless we really need him off the wage bill? Or maybe he just wants to play some games. Now that we're out of the cup competitions its highly unlikely he'll get another game this season, unless Westwood leaves or gets injured,
Carl Shutt is God
Wouldn't be a massive shock. I would imagine he wants game time. If he goes that's more of an indication we would not be getting rid of Westwood surely.
BIG D
If he wants match practice that's the place to go.
oldishowl
He had travelling issues when he first signed didn't he and i think he lives that way so might be something in it
Hawkeye
If he's being allowed to go it suggests westwood is staying. Every cloud and all that
Guest Frickley Owl
A keeper of his proven ability isn't going to be happy warming a bench all season, especially as he has gone some way to proving he can stay fit and injury free now.
Miffed
Kind of defeats the object of having two top keepers. Shows that unless you are a top Premier League side, its impossible to keep two good keepers happy.
nolan_swfc
BLACKPOOL WANT KIRKLAND Blackpool are set to send on-loan goalkeeper Joe Lewis back to Cardiff and sign Sheffield Wednesday's Chris Kirkland in his place, writes the Sun on Sunday. Reports suggest Lewis, who has put in a string of fine performances so far this season, is too costly with Seasiders planning to snap up Kirkland on a free transfer. WayneTheOwl
That will be a shocking move for Kirkland! It will strengthen his back though, the amount of goals they concede!
SiJ
He's not going to want to spend too much more time sat on the bench. Very good keeper, but Westwood is younger and better.
Guest
Kirkland is far too good for that club I think he will move on as ultimately he's too good to sit on the bench every week , but blackpool ? Cmon chris you can do much better than them

TheBoyBeevers
All of his family are in the North West so the geography makes sense. And he'd play every week. But you'd have to question it as a career move...more like career suicide.
Mr Farrell
Having 2 decent keepers with our weak squad was always pretty bizarre. Love to know the logic behind it.
coopswfc76
Good luck to him and possibly his best option that way out so close to his family, At his age its about playing every week as goalkeepers aren't like outfield players were you can rotate to a extent and keep everybody happy. Wolfmanjack
Or maybe he just wants to play some games. Now that we're out of the cup competitions its highly unlikely he'll get another game this season, unless Westwood leaves or gets injured, Kirkland is well past his sell by dage, as the first goal at the Etihad demondtrated. I'm perfectly happy for him to leave, and would be very disappointed if he was suddenly our first choice keeper. Sadly, not up to the job any more. vontemp
Could do with him off the wage bill, bet he's on a decent whack and Westwood is a far superior goalkeeper.
mansfield_owl
He's been decent for us,but If were holding on to Westwood, seems logical to get rid of Kirklands wages
