Guest wilyfox
So we'd commit to a deal that we can't do now?

Last_Great_Hope
So we'd commit to a deal that we can't do now? This. OP makes zero sense.
The Night-Owl
Hope so we could do with his experience and creativity. Plus we'd have more chance of seeing him back in form and near his best if we had him longer even if its just till the end of the season. It would be a good sign if we can get players of his quality in midfield and attack like we have defensively.
jonesy87shef
This. OP makes zero sense. Just a loan with the option to buy is what I assume the op means
darklord
So we'd commit to a deal that we can't do now? Maybe our circumstances will be different at the end of the season
Anthndav
So we'd commit to a deal that we can't do now? Perhaps Watford are paying a % of the wage which we'll be able to cover when we release players in the summer. Perfect sense to me.
Guest wilyfox
Maybe our circumstances will be different at the end of the season Maybe, maybe not. We don't know. Milan might not either. I think there's a deal to be done with McGugan, but this method seems over elaborate.
waddleisgod
Trouble is we will have to get him match fit all over again Still want him though, quality player

southportdc
Watford might want to sell him rather than loan him out with a guaranteed free transfer?
darklord
sounds like a loan with view to permanent which are very de rigour these days

Anthndav
Perfect sense? We have wages going on players we obviously don't fancy (see Corry), we get McGugan in while Watford are paying all or just a % of his wages. McGugan comes to us on a free in the summer after we release some of the players taking a wedge for little input.

Guest wilyfox
We do weird things sometimes, so I suppose it's possible. We'd certainly have quality in the middle, but not enough out wide though. Maybe Gray wants to load our side with central midfielders.

Why would Watford be happy to subsidise his wages for him to play for us for the rest of the season? If they want rid it will be on a free or nominal transfer, then his wages arent their problem at all.
